2013 Compendium
December 25, 2013

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all! Hope you enjoyed celebrating the holidays one way or another. With 2013 soon coming to an end, I thought I’d make this post a recap of 2013; so that I can post about my goals and them cheesy stuff for 2014 next week :). This may be a lengthy post so bear with me and you’ll get a piece of imaginary delicious finger-food.

Goals of 2013

Earlier this year, I made a post about the goals I wanted to accomplish this year. Here are the results:

✔ Aiming for a 3.5+ GPA: Calculating the 12 classes I took this year alone, I accumulated a 3.6 GPA at the moment (I’m waiting for 2 more grades to show up; more info to come later).
✔ It’s Transfer Time!: I applied for transfer and hopefully good news will arrive this upcoming spring.
X Teach Me, Teach Me How to Python: I failed at fulfilling this goal. I was consistent at first with getting through some lessons then I became super busy with schoolwork and forgot about python. Maybe next year is the year :).
? Be Financially Fit: I’m not sure how to evaluate this goal… I spent a lot of money of stuff I needed and want while still manage to save a good sum of change. I’ll just say I met the bare minimum.

✔ Eating Healthy: I avoided more soda consumption and went about 17 months without it besides an accidental sip *that one time*. I drank more water in place of soda so that’s a better alternative. I also kept consuming *unhealthy* food to a minimum.
✔ Staying Happy & Be a Better Person: For sure, this will still be a goal for 2014 and onward. I feel more happier than I did last year and tried looking at situations in a positive way. As for being a better person, I found myself helping others more than before so that’s a start :).
✔ This Awesome Relationship: My boyfriend and I just passed our 17th month mark this past weekend. We’ve been doing good and hope for better as the months go by ^__^
✔ I’m Blogging and I Know It: Despite my schedule, I still manage to come up with a blog post per week and return most comments (I still avoid one sentence comments). I also joined Blog Matter recently and hopefully the blogging community as a whole will be more active next year.
✔ Knowing My Limits: I started the year off with 7 domains and wanted to get rid most of them. I am limiting myself to 3 domains: this blog, my *splash* page, and my *professional* one for school stuff (still in progress).
✔ Movies: I managed to watch Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim, and Man of Steel in theaters this year. In addition, I watched The Wolverine, Despicable Me 2, and World War Z online. Except- I haven’t watched Thor yet.
✔ X Games: X Fest 2013: I went to X Fest earlier this year with my boyfriend and we watched the motocross events! It was really fun to see those professionals do tricks in midair and all of that cool stuff.

I managed to accomplish most of my goals and I’m happy with how this year went. It treated me well and I hope for better in 2014 :). Here are the other *stuff* of 2013

More of 2013
  • Hosting: I am blessed to be working alongside with Isi on Ofblue Webhosting. Despite of us being busy with school and everything, we still manage to get the job done within a timely manner. This has been a great year and learning experience for us and hope 2014 treats us well. For those who are interested, we have a surprise coming up New Years with revamped reseller packages :).
  • Travel: The most significant traveling I did was flying up to San Jose for their Cyber Camp in August. This was the first time that I boarded on a plane by myself and I was on my own. It was a nice experience for the most part besides the TSA confiscating my lotion because I forgot to put it in my checked luggage :(. If cyber camp is taking place again next year, I would go again and maybe win the scholarship prize this time.
  • Food: I started to cook and prepare more meals this year. My greatest success is probably sushi. Making homemade meals is definitely cheaper than buying it outdoors and it might be healthier too since you can substitute/lessen some ingredients used.
  • Shopping: I did a good amount of shopping for myself this year. I bought some bags, scarves, tanks, and layered shirts. Though I still need to find sales to buy some jeans and shoes *o*. I usually shop when there’s a legit sale going on so the savings are higher than the norm.

More would be listed but a lot of it have been mentioned on my blog posts throughout the year so I’ll save yah some time there.

Overall, 2013 was a great year for me. I’m happy with how things went and although it could always be better, things happen for a reason. Without a further adieu, let’s enjoy the rest of 2013 and look forward to an awesome 2014 coming up in a week.

This is a nice way to recap your year. I always just lump things up by months and just summarise what I did, haha!

It looks like you accomplished a lot, though! Kudos on balancing your schooling, social life, online life, and relationship 🙂 I wish you the best for 2014! Keep it up ^^

    Awesome recap of your year!

You accomplished a lot just in one year and that’s amazing! I wish you all the happiness for New Year as well! I hope your Christmas was good as well!

It looks like you accomplished most of your goals which is fantastic! I need to be more of a goal setter but find I have a hard time committing to them or something gets in the way, lol.

Hopefully next year you’ll accomplish just as much. 🙂

What an amazing year for you! I personally felt that a lot happened in 2013, simply because of the transition from college to grad school and everything else in between. I think 2014 will be less chaotic, but more adventurous at the same time.

Here’s hoping we all have an exciting 2014!

Congrats on accomplishing so many goals! It’s especially great that you’re doing well on staying healthy and happy 🙂 Nice job on getting a good GPA too!

I find it’s hard to stay motivated when learning new programming languages. I think the only time I learn new ones is when I’m forced to for school or work, haha.

I’m glad you had a good 2013! I hope 2014 will be great for you too!
