Craft & Cheese Tasting
October 17, 2015

My boyfriend and I finally went to the school’s brewery together this week! Walking across the floor with the 4 cups of beer on a paddle wasn’t easy for me @___@. I had an order of samplers where I can choose any of the crafts on the menu. From left to right, I ordered a Blonde Ale, Bronco Brown, Green & Gold, and Ortiz’s Orange Wizenberger. My favorite is still the Ortiz’s Orange followed by Green & Gold. Way to go with the school spirit!

A few days ago, I applied and became a TA for a management information systems class. I wanted to be a TA for the experience rather than pay. I’m interested to see how grading assignments and teaching is first hand. Hopefully this will be a worthwhile experience! Don’t get me wrong, I still like my current workplace and pay so this is basically a “for fun” addition to my weekly tasks.

My phone suddenly started to act weird after work on Wednesday where the screen showed vertical lines and color distortion. This happened before and my easy fix was to smack my phone around until the internal screen cable connection wiggled in place. This method didn’t work this time so I decided it’s finally time for a phone upgrade. I drove to the Apple store and bought myself a silver iPhone 6S. Initially, I had trouble deciding on the color because silver would match my watch, gold would match my iPad, and rose gold would match my wallet. Luckily, I was able to buy one on the spot because with each hour that went by, my old iPhone’s screen gets worse. I actually didn’t purposely cause this to happen.

This week’s FriDate features cheese tasting! My boyfriend and I tried out 8 different cheeses with 5 untouched. My boyfriend’s favorite cheese out of the set is Dill Havarti and my favorite is Munster. We paired up the cheese with Stella Rosa: Moscato D’Asti and Four Vines: The Willing Chardonnay. I love Moscato D’Asti wine! Most of the other cheese were either okay, too dry, or too sour. Hopefully the other 5 won’t be disappointing! Pro tip: Make a really good use of the condiments such as olives, grapes, crackers, and etc. or else you will get overwhelmed by the cheese!

Those are my main highlights of the week. Here are 5 little cool things that happened this week:

  • Translated my wardrobe application from C# to Python for my Computer Science project.
  • Boyfriend made poblano stuffed peppers for dinner this week. It’s girlfriend approved!
  • Walked from class to my apartment for the first time this school year. The scenery is a lot better than I expected!
  • 48pc of Ferrero Rocher for ~$8.45 at Costco = LooOoooOooOOOoooVe~
  • My band kids from high school came to visit me on Thursday, yaaaaay.

I love me some Ferrero Rocher, but my shiz will forever be Hawaiian Host. There’s just something about macadamia nuts and chocolate! But I love Costco a lot. Like I’ve had conversations with people about how fantastic Costco is. Their return policy, man. (Am I officially an adult yet?)

Grading is terrible. Syllabus creation is terrible. Life is terrible.

I haven’t seen Hawaiian Host all that much in stores. BUT I love macadamia nuts!!! Too bad it’s so expensive ;(. I think grading would be terrible on my end if a student inserts a virus within their excel file or something ;-;.

PS. Costco is awesome. I would love to shop there more often but I don’t finish the food on time ;(.

It is, but because it’s bulk packaging at Costco I feel like it’s worth it. I mean, a box with like 10 inside was about $9 at TSH–noooo way!

I don’t know what sort of assignments you’ll have them doing, since your area is not my area XD;; but that sounds shady! I’ve had students try to sneak around the word count by adding a paragraph of invisible text to the end of their essay. They try so hard XP

P.S. but the poke at Costco is so good! Surprisingly, the wasabi isn’t as spicy as the limu, so that’s what I get. Minimum now is half a pound, though, so I have to eat it as an actual meal.

For sure, toilet paper is best at Costco! Gas too… Gas is so much cheaper there BUT the lines are sooooooo long ;(. Their cookies are awesome but I don’t think I can finish 36+ in the next 5 days :6. I need to look of the poke at Costco!! I’m interested to see how it taste like. I can finish half a pound no problem ;).

Ahhhhhhhhhhh I never heard of trying to add invisible text at the end of the essay for a word count boost! I just know of making the periods bigger to push the text down. I’m grading access/excel assignments so far. Wonder what tricks can be pulled!

I’m not a beer fan, but that’s cool you got to try some new beers 😀 Love your Coach wallet, by the way! XD Which one is it?

Congrats on the becoming a TA! I think this will be a good experience and something else to put on your resume. I was a TA for couple of my high school professors, and I’d help with the grading XD I actually enjoyed that!

Sucks that your old phone started acting up, but woot for getting a new phone! How’re you like it? I know I’d be happy with new tech gadgets!

Muenster cheese is one of my favourite! But I also adore the smoked cheeses, too, like gouda. I can’t say I am fond of a lot of cheese, though XD Still, it’s cool that you and your boyfriend had fun tasting cheeses :3

AND GIRL. You need to send me some of those Ferrero Rochers! Love them, too! 48 is that price is a good steal!!!

I’m usually into the sweeter stuff. Too much beer = beer belly ;( ;(. Coach doesn’t sell my wallet’s color anymore, but look for the “tech wallet” section.

Hopefully TA will be a great experience aside from the perks of putting it on my resume. My new iPhone is so fast and much lighter! Hopefully this phone will last longer XD.

!!! We have one of the smoked cheeses in the set. I realized I’m not that fond of cheese as well, but it’s a good experience!

Hooray for a new phone! It sucked that your old one pooped out, but at least you got a better phone out of it? :’D

Congrats on becoming a TA! The experience you gain will be definitely be useful to have.

Sounds like a superb experience, I must say! 🙂

I saw cheese in the title and got really excited.

I loooove beer. You’re a girl after my own heart <3

Congratulations on becoming a TA! I hope all the work doesn't get too overwhelming, but I'm sure you've got a handle on it. It's good to do something you enjoy for fun (plus get paid).

Oh hello, fancy new phone! I'm hopefully getting a new phone soon, now that I have a new job. Fingers crossed!

Cheese and wine tasting is the freaking best! I'm having a cheese and wine night with my friends within the next couple of weeks 😀 Brie is hands down my favourite cheese. The things I'd do for brie…

Sometimes I wish I could eat nuts just so I can see what all the fuss is about with Ferrero Rocher. Lol.

Sounds like heaven with the cheese. I only know a few brands of cheese but I’d love to try more. My husband loves cheese, too but he’d love to have that experience too.

Never tried Ferrero Rocher. I don’t like expensive chocolate, but I do love me some cheap chocolate like Reeses’ and the such. Sorry about your phone 🙁 that sucks but at least you got a new one!
