December Lately
December 16, 2015

December is probably the best month of the year because of the holiday festivities and the chilly weather when the heat decides to leave LA. Winter break is finally here and I’m spending most of it working full time- which is fine with me! This break is giving me the wonderful opportunity of finishing up some projects at work.

My boyfriend and I set up our little Christmas tree the other weekend. Decorating the tree is always fun but packing it away isn’t. The coolest ornament this year is the snowflake from Pandora, which my boyfriend got ♥. We have a few wrapped presents for each other under the tree’s table. I can’t wait to unwrap them!

A couple of weeks ago, we went to an upscale mall to look around. I always enjoy walking around in this mall even though I have no intentions in buying anything from Louis Vuitton, Armani Exchange, or Hermès. Though, I have been looking for a nice white wallet from Coach for a while to the point where one of the reps remembers me. I’ve looked at other brands but they never really caught my attention.

As far as foodie adventures goes, not much happened lately. My boyfriend and I went to Joe’s Crab Shack twice for the $1 oyster special last week. The good news is that my appetite for oysters is beyond satisfied for a while. Not to mention, their bacon-wrapped shrimps are delicious!

Lastly, my computer upgrade project is pretty much complete. The last thing I need to do is buy a power supply with a bigger capacity but that can wait. It turns out that I needed a bigger case because the CPU cooler I bought was too big for what I had. I ended up buying a Cooler Master mid-tower case and everything fits in perfectly. The temperature of my CPU’s cores are really low now, which is a huge improvement over my previous CPU (AMD). I personally prefer Intel over AMD for many reasons except for the price- but you get what you paid for! Windows boots up within 10 seconds and Photoshop opens within 3. I’m pretty happy with my computer rig now but adding another fan to the case would be nice too.

Your tree is so pretty!!! I’ve been so busy I didn’t have a chance to put mine up over thanksgiving break 🙁 I wonder if I put it up this weekend if it’ll be a waste since Christmas is almost here, lol.

Omg! Are you at SCP? hehe. I like walking around in there. The “expensive” sectors of the mall are basically foreign to me. Haha, I only go to the cheapie stores. And across the street where there’s more bargains 😛

Windows booting up in 10 secs? I was impressed with 30 seconds on mine when it was new (I used to have an old desktop that took like 5 minutes to boot up and then like an hour to open a web browser LOL). Ugh, you’re living the dream! haha 😀

Yes! We were at SCP :D. I love the mall even though I have nothing to buy from there. I know a few of the expensive brands but anything else like…. …. You know, the brands with some person’s name is foreign to me too XD. Across the street, the only store I shop from there is the little craft store and Crate & Barrel. You must share your secrets!

Your pictures make me giddy that it is Christmastime! Setting the tree up is a perfect way to start the season, but taking it down is horrible. There’s always pine needles everywhere and when I vacuum an ornament hook always gets inside my vacuum. 😐

Holy wow, 10 seconds is so fast compared to my crappy old laptop, haha. Sometimes it can take more than five minutes for it to boot up. And if I’ve left it on all day accidentally, it is slower than molasses. Want to build a new computer for me, Nancy? 😉

    • Nancy ☆ December 20, 2015 at 2:33 pm

!!! The glittery ornaments are always the messiest to clean after. I just use disposable wipes since the vacuum and broom doesn’t do the work (leftover glitter everywhere!!).

I would totally help you out if you were local :D. But I’m still learning X’D. We could learn together instead XD.

I really like the way your tree is decorated! The gold and teal ornaments are beautiful. ♥ Also, I never thought to put gift bags on the tree, but I like it?! It adds a cool effect. c:

    The snowflake is also beautiful!

It’s really awesome when people start to notice you at a place you go to often, even if you just go to browse around. :3

I hope you will have a fun and joyful winter break! I know you have to work, but that’s still better than trying to do both school and work, if you ask me XD

Your tree is awesome! I love that Pandora snowflake your boyfriend got for you. Man, I haven’t decorated a tree in years, but it’s just something I’ve no interest in doing. Plus, like you wrote, putting it away after is a pain, hahaha!

And woot for your PC being super awesome now! I’m glad it’s temperature is way cooler and that everything loads super fast 🙂 I, too, prefer Intel over AMD, but you’re right that it’s certainly pricier than the other brand!

    • Nancy ☆ December 20, 2015 at 2:30 pm

Yes! It’s nice to not be up at night doing homework (even though I’m still up late anyways).

I wish I could have the tree up longer but hopefully I’ll be more prepared next year XD. Intel is definitely the superior brand if you have the budget, and quality comes with a price! AMD works great too, but you need a super cooling system for it to not overheat.

Your tree looks great! I love the mix of gold and silver ornaments, and the snowflake is pretty 🙂 You guys look cute in front of the large tree in the mall!

    That’s awesome that your computer is so fast! Congrats on completing it! When I built my previous computer, I chose a shiny silver mid-tower case with a large side fan. Because of the side fan, my first CPU cooler didn’t fit, haha. I liked my case too much, so I ended up buying a smaller cooler XD;;

    • Nancy ☆ December 20, 2015 at 2:28 pm

Gold and silver ornaments are the best! But between picking one of the two, I probably like silver better.

I had a slow computer for so many years and it’s nice to finally have something nice… That I actually put together myself :P. If I had a cool case, I would definitely buy a different different CPU cooler too XD. My situation was the same, the huge side fan was in the way @___@.

Your tree looks wonderful. We used to put lots of Christmas decors back when I was younger, but these few years, we only have few Christmas lights here and there, we don’t even put up the Christmas tree anymore.

I always feel a little intimidated when I go to upscale shops. It’s like I can feel the saleslady looking down on me. Haha. So I usually avoid places like that at the malls. Usually I just shop online when I need a gift to my mom.

And wow, you assemble your own computer? That’s so cool!

Gorgeous tree! I love when people stick to a specific color palette, I think it makes a world of difference!

We ended up passing on the festivities this year due to an unexpected RIF but we don’t mind. It happens, lol.

I agree that Intel CPUs are far superior over AMD and will always be my preferred. I’m glad you were able to get your issues resolved and hopefully you’ll be able to get that new PSU soon!

I am glad that you are enjoying the cooler weather that would certainly be a nice change. Even though you are working, It’s good that you are completely fine with it. 😀

The tree looks so beautiful! I agree with you on packing them away, that can be a bit of a hassle. Many years ago we used to get real trees from within my grandfathers property. Not only did you have to take ornaments and decorations off, you also had to clean up all the bits of tree that fell out. I like it better having one that I am not chopping down a real tree now and less mess!

Wow, that is a massive tree in the mall. The decoration is really lovely and I can’t imagine how long that would have taken to put together! x_x

I am glad that the upgrade is completely on the computer and it seems to be running a lot better now! It can be hard to keep them cool. 🙁

I’m still wondering how giant Christmas trees are put into the malls along with what kind of manufacturer make it that size?! I know outdoor malls are easier to handle with it comes to setting up the trees XD. It must’ve been a lot of work having to clean up after the bits of pine stems (and potentially painful) ;~;.

  9. Alice ☆ December 21, 2015 at 5:09 am

ah, christmas atmosphere is here. i don’t celebrate it but i’d probably honor the day by going out for dinner with my parents or something. just formality of sort.

intel > AMD anytime of the day, man. just like how i’d pick nvidia over AMD’s VGA anytime of the day. speaking of upgrade, i want to upgrade my VGA for better gaming :)) hm and money is definitely the issue. oh well~
are you still on win 7 btw? i remember you saying (or was it someone else?) that, correct me if i’m wrong. try win 10! LOL

    • Nancy ☆ December 29, 2015 at 10:05 pm

AMD’s are good if you’re on a budget. BUT it tends to overheat quick so better have some robust cooling system set up! I’m on Windows 10 now but still haven’t accepted the terms and conditions to use Cortana X’D. I like it so far, it’s ~modern~. *gets out of the 7dinosaur7 ages*

Christmas/December has been the best and worst time of my life, but I’m thankful for it because it helped me in so many ways.

    Lovely photos. Merry Christmas!

  11. Mimi Gonzales ☆ December 23, 2015 at 1:09 am

Aww, you guys are sweet! I agree, Intel has always been my choice in spite of its very expensive price. Your Christmas tree looks very lovely! Merry Christmas!!! <3
