December 3, 2014

A few days late, but I can’t believe it’s December already! It feels like the year flew by pretty fast and within a month, it will be 2015 *o*.

Thanksgiving week was pretty good. Work was busy, more than half of my class meetings were canceled, and I got to spend some time with my parents over the break. There weren’t many good deals over Black Friday or Cyber Monday that I could dive deep into. At the most, I got booties (ankle boots), a cardigan, and a dress from Cyber Monday (still under $65) ☺.

Last Wednesday night, I finally met my boyfriend’s mom when we (boyfriend’s sibling + his mom) had a dinner at Lazy Dog. I ordered a Hawaiian Ahi Poke (appetizer) and an Asian Ahi Tuna Burger. I’ve never heard of sashimi-grade fish being used in a burger before; but it tasted alright- nothing special. The tuna is usually cooked medium-rare so you get that juicy texture on the inside while the outside is cooked. But judging by the way I eat, I probably rather eat sashimi at that point *o*.

This week and next week is a really busy week for me. I have a final to take tomorrow for my organizational behavior class and do a presentation on a web development project for another class. At least I’m done with all of the other things I had to do for the past few days like taking another org. behavior exam yesterday and presenting a business problem + solution for my management info. systems class this evening. In addition, I got called into work for extra days earlier this week to fix a couple of problems. And then next week, I have an operations and management info. systems final. Busy weeks, eh??

In a week from now, I will be done with the quarter! The quarter system with 10 weeks is a lot more bearable than the semester system with 16. Maybe that’s just me, I enjoy things moving at a faster pace. I’m satisfied with how the quarter went so far considering how it’s my first quarter at the school. More details to come on my post after finals ;D.

Another apology for the delay in returning comments, that whole finals/end of the term thing is getting to me *o*.

Good luck with the finals! You’ll do well. I find that if one studies even a bit on a regular basis, they will pass 😀

The hummus plate looks so good! I love hummus, but I find that it’s a hit or a miss for me when it’s not properly made.

    I’m glad the meeting with your boyfriend’s mum went well! Meeting the ‘rents always made me nervous XD;

Anyway, don’t overdo it! December is always a busy time as a working student (I speak from experience T_T), so make sure you pace yourself well!

Poke and hummus? Definitely part of my favorites list. Glad to hear that Thanksgiving was good and that you were able to avail some of the black friday deals!

Ah, meeting boyfriend’s mum is so nerve wracking! I’m happy everything went well for you 🙂

I hope you have a good few weeks, even though they will busy. Maybe after that you will have time to relax for the holidays? I hope so. 🙂

That sounds really interesting with the tuna burger. I have had a home made one, and it was nice, but never one from a restaurant. 😀

Good luck with your finals. 🙂

The food in the pictures look really appetising (got me hungry) but they’re not something I would eat. Lol. I’ve never really liked tuna but tuna burger sounds interesting.

    Have a nice day! 🙂

Man, a tuna burger sounds really good! I’m a huge fan of sushi and sashimi, but that might also mean that I will just like pure sushi better than a burger with sushi fish in it. Were you nervous at all meeting your bf’s mom?

That’s perfectly okay! Get done with things that need to be done, and worry about returning comments later 🙂 We’ll always be here. Hahahaha

I’m glad you had a good outing with the bf’s mom. Sorry, the food wasn’t so good!

I can’t believe it’s so close to 2015! Time really did fly 🙂 I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving week! I didn’t really buy anything for Black Friday or Cyber Monday either. Nothing really caught my eye this year, I guess.

Yum, I love Poke. I think tuna burgers are alright, but really, I prefer my tuna raw or just seared on one side 🙂 I feel like it tastes the best that way!

Good luck on your finals! I’m glad the quarter went well for you!

One more week from December 3rd…that means tomorrow, you’ll be done! That’s pretty exciting! I can see it being a trade-off between quarter and semester system. On one hand, I can appreciate the swift, 10-week cycle. On the other hand, the additional 6 weeks I get from semester system lets me develop a better understanding of my classmates. Maybe this is just due to grad classes being smaller, but who knows?

    Hang in there!

time is moving too fast it’s scary pfft

sometimes i wish i can experience thanksgiving just for the sake of eating turkey. okay shoot me for the stereotype because i associate turkey with thanksgiving. part of me is glad i’m asian and that there’s no thanksgiving going on here because i hate family gathering (long story but yea i dislike the family tree i’m stuck in) and i hate like 99% of my relatives, etc LOL

being chinese, though we don’t have thanksgiving, we do have other chinese events that involves family gathering and eww ermagehd, boy do i hate them. but eh imagine the sales for video games during black friday! HAHA

on the contrary, hawaiian ahi poke is awesome. it’s a good appetizer 🙂 i think using sashimi grade fish for burger is a waste 🙁 i mean, sashimi is meant to be for sashimi: fresh, raw and just naked so putting it as burger filling and seeing it mixed with sauce and stuff..that’s kinda sad 🙁
tuna burger sounds odd though because it’s usually tuna sandwich, not tuna burger haha

ouch, you’re facing finals 🙁 my finals will be in february and ugh group projects everywhere TAT sucks because i’m also the project leader…pfft anyway good luck with finals! i know you’ll do good (you and your genius brain, geez)

I always said that Chinese New Year’s is 3 holidays in 1: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Heck, you can even add Halloween if you technically count it if kids are collecting red envelopes!! I think using sashimi-grade fish for a burger is a waste too! Even if it’s lightly seared, it didn’t live up to my expectations. If anything, I would just order it completely raw next time ~___~.
