Summer Cooldown Adventure
August 15, 2015

Wow, I can’t believe there are 35 days left until summer is over along with the fact that we’re halfway through August! Last I checked, there were 69 days left! Time flew by pretty quick and I’m happy with it.

My work pushed me into seeing if PLC programming can be an option for me. I always welcome a new learning experience within the computer field even if I choose not to pursue it in specific in the future. The programming language we use for the PLC’s is structured text and its logic is similar to the other programming languages in cases where “if … then”, “for … to … do”, and other statements are used. However, a background knowledge on how the hardware works inside and out is required because you’re basically instructing the hardware to do a specific function versus the pure software controls I’m used to. I suppose this is what I could’ve done if I pursued a computer engineering degree instead. I think I will be sticking to my computer information systems degree that’s soon to come ;). Apparently my one of my talents at work is being the bridge between the business and technical departments.

My awesome boyfriend ordered/bought a couple of dresses for me and they fit me perfectly! I’ve been trying to expand my scope for dress-shopping but haven’t found any other brands that carry the styles that fits me well to my liking. Maybe one day, I’ll develop a liking for Banana Republic dresses! Speaking of which, I have a cute Banana Republic dress that haven’t been worn yet @____@.

This weekend’s weather is over 100*F. My friend and I went to hang out today and with the hot temperature, we didn’t want to eat anything hot like Korean BBQ (our usual eatery topic). I thought of the idea of going mini “dessert-hopping”, where it’s similar to bar-hopping but with desserts instead. We ended up going through 3 places. It’s a pretty good way to stay cool while eating and catching up! I think I’ll send the “dessert-hopping” idea to my mental R&D to fully map out a proper dessert shop route ;).

We started our first round at Cocohodo and got a berry shaved ice. The best thing about it is that the toppings are chosen beforehand so I didn’t need to go through the hassle of choosing random toppings. I thought it was pretty delicious with the sweetness being on par without overpowering the flavor of the shaved ice.

On the second round, we cheated a bit because the dessert place we initially picked mostly had coffee with cotton candy. We tossed the idea aside and went to the ramen place nearby. I really didn’t want to eat anything hot. Instead, I faced the question of whether I want chirashi or cold ramen. I ended up picking cold ramen, where there’s ramen in cold soup. I had the mussels add-on because I was randomly craving for something seafoody at the time. In comparison, I liked the other ramen place I went with one of the managers instead.

Lastly, we stopped at Honeymee. The concept of this place is pretty interesting; except the price is towards the expensive side but I think it’s worth it if you go once in a while. If you’re a fan of honey, this is a perfect place for you. I ordered the ice cream with honeycomb on top. I had a pretty good balance where I had enough ice cream to offset the sweetness of the honey without running out of honey. This was my first time eating the honeycomb and it was deliciously crunchy.

Overall, I enjoyed this outing. It was a refreshing way to cope with the extreme heat. I think I might squeeze in a next trial run in a few weeks ;).

You totally lost me with the computer language thing, haha! But it’s good you’re learning new skills that will help you in the future! ^^

Your dress is cute, Nancy! As always, I adore your photos of you and your awesome poses!

Dessert hopping? Now that’s something I’d do. That actually sounds like a good idea, too! I may have to do that one of these days with friends 😀

Homg, that berry shaved iced dish is screaming my name. I normally don’t get those sort of dessert, but with this miserable hot and humid weather, I’d be totally down for it. Unnnnnng. It looks so good!

Cold ramen is something I’ve yet to try! I’ve had the cold noodle dishes that are in Korean and Japanese cuisines, but cold ramen is not something I’ve tried!

Finally, that Honeymee is cracking me up because Korea has Softree 😀 https://8shotsofsoju.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/hongdae-ice-cream-3.jpg This was a trend last year, but it’s still around so people are going to it :3

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your summer break, Nancy. Once again, GO SOMEWHERE 😀

I love Banana Republic. Great quality if you ask me. I like nothing better than clothing fitting perfectly. I too, had a dress ordered for me by my mom as a birthday present. It fit perfectly! ^^

The food/dessert looks so yummy. I know what you mean about the extreme heat, but it’s worse in Texas with the suffocating humidity. Man, it sucks so baaad. I’m glad that you’re finding ways to cool down.

I’ve been swimming after peak hours of the sun shining. It is refreshing and I’ve even lost some weight! Stay cool, always <3

The dress is so cute! It looks great on you. I’m also struggling with the “what style even looks good on me” thing. Dresses are so difficult to pick out (but your BF did a great job!)

Yum! Dessert hopping sounds perfect for the SoCal weather right now. I feel like I’m bringing the hot weather along with me wherever I go, haha. It didn’t seem like it was hot in SoCal til I got back earlier this summer. Honeymee looks delish! I was going to try that place, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have such a long list of desserts I have to eat. If you’re ever dessert hopping in the central OC area, feel free to ask me for recs! I pretty much live by the whole “Ice cream is like water” motto so I have dessert for breakfast, lunch, and dinner hehe.

I have not heard of PCL before, but the way you describe it sounds like a more advanced Assembly language. Maybe I am on the wrong path. 😛 I am totally going to read up about it though!

Your dress is adorable! I have been into Banana Republic once, I need to check it out. My store of choice at the moment (besides the Bay (Canadian Department store with amazing brand names)) is Dynamite, also a Canadian store. I love how it is for young women who need to dress for the office. They have some really classy stuff, and thats more my style. Everyone my age wears crop tops, I have never even tried one on.

My favourite food item you have out of all the ones there is the honey! That is so neat! My boyfriend and I love trying out new places. It would be so cool to have that here since we have a lot of honey farms in the province I live in. Next weekend we are going to a town festival that is all about corn, apples (and apple cider) and honey. I will have to see if anyone has that there.

Very cute dress! I wish I could find a nice dress. Its hard to find ones that look nice on.

Dessert hopping. Awesome idea! Looks like you got some yummy foods!

Ahhhh, you finally went to Honeymee! I love it; it’s soooooo good. I haven’t been there in a while, though. I thought about trying Cocohodo, but it just doesn’t sound super appealing? Perhaps I’ll give it a try soon.

What ramen place is that? It looks so good D:

    • Nancy ☆ August 17, 2015 at 8:33 am

The ramen was from Ajisen Ramen in Rowland Heights ;). It’s okay and gets the job done. Still need to find a good ramen place nearby though! Cocohodo is alright, but I don’t have enough places to compare it to yet! I rate it the same as Creamistry.

      • Holland ☆ August 18, 2015 at 1:39 pm

Honestly, Ajisen’s probably the best you’ll find in RH. I’ve been to Tamaya and the place that opened in the HK Supermarket plaza, and those places are mediocre at best. (I’d rate the latter a little higher than the former when it comes to food, but their service is a lot worse.)

I try to restrict my Creamistry intake. It’s really good but so expensive! I’ve been there twice since it opened so I’m going to try and hold off on hitting it up again until 2016. Zensen is decent, though, if you like revolving sushi places. Quality of food is just okay, but they’re cheap, so it’s nice to have a cheap sushi option around even if they’re not the greatest. Beats having to go to Brea!

Having background knowledge of the hardware is very useful! I had to take hardware classes in college, and I actually didn’t like them, but I have to admit that they helped me think about the way I code.

That dress looks great on you! That was sweet of your boyfriend to buy you some 🙂 Also props to him for knowing what to buy. I don’t think my husband would know what clothes to buy me, haha.

It’s been over 100F here too. Ughhhh, it’s so hot! That dessert looks really good and fitting for this weather. The ramen looks good too! In the summer, I prefer dipping ramen, which is meant to be a summer ramen since the noodles are cold.

I’ve heard of Honeymee before, but there are none here 🙁 I think that’s interesting that it’s honey with ice cream. I love honey, so I think I’d enjoy it!

  8. Raisa ☆ August 19, 2015 at 7:46 pm

It’s been so hot over here too. T_T Not as hot as where you are but the humidity makes it just as unbearable for me. 🙁 That shaved ice is a great idea right now. Can’t wait for summer to be over!

You look so cute in your dress!

  9. Alice ☆ August 20, 2015 at 7:29 am

Haha, dresses! you’re such a felicity smoak, aren’t you 😉 you just HAVE to be so good in IT and wear dresses like felicity!!

the concept of honey milk soft / ice cream is starting to be popular in here too. the difference is that they don’t use honeycomb like the one you had but rather, they drizzled the milk soft ice cream with normal honey. it’s not as original as …the one you can find in japan but whatever, i never knew honey + milk ice cream make such a good pair. i just really love honey in general haha

  10. Chynna ☆ August 20, 2015 at 8:26 am

When my birthday is coming up, that’s when I know it’s the end of summer D: Cute dress!

You always make me hungry with places you go to. Y U DO DIS? Glad you enjoyed the outing, though! 😀
