Escape from Reality
November 3, 2015

My Halloween weekend was amazing and hope yours was too! I spent the weekend at the Escape: Psycho Circus festival with my boyfriend and his sister. I would totally go to Escape again next year! It’s a cheaper alternative to EDC and I still had the chance to see some of my favorite artists… Along with the fact that it gives me a bigger incentive to dress up.

The lineup was pretty good. My favorites included Benny Benassi, Martin Garrix, Laidback Luke, and Dash Berlin. For years, I’ve listened to Benny Benassi’s livesets and I finally got to hear it happen in person! #MyLifeIsComplete. Martin Garrix and Laidback Luke had an amazing opening to their livesets (holla @ the piano version of Animals + bass-heavy version of Without Me) and were strong all the way to the end.

There is a negative stigma attached to these types of events. The main problem comes from a few individuals who do stupid and/or irresponsible things and give the venue a bad name. Even having tighter security won’t necessarily stop people from sneaking in things they shouldn’t. At the end of the day, it’s up to the individuals to realize the type of decisions they’re making. In spite of all of this, I’m proud to say that this was a clean event on my end and still had lots of fun.

Aside from the negative aspects, Escape was still really fun. People were dressed up and the possibilities are endless! I had a picture taken of me “praying” with the “religious fam”. On Halloween, I dressed up as a ninja and it was worth every penny spent. Not to mention, some of the totems are hilarious! Some people had political jokes as their totem and others had funny pictures and captions.

There were some attractions aside from the “music tents”. The ferris wheel was a bit scary because the metal kept squeaking. On the other hand, the round up ride was pretty cool because we were being spun and our bodies were pushed against the wall. There was also a mini circus on the side, but that was kind of freaky.

I made a compilation video of some scenes I recorded at Escape. This 6 minute video pretty much sums up the endless hours of music there! ~a m a z i n g n e s s~

The only person I recognised in that list was Martin Garrix – but that’s cool. I LIVE for Animals, haha. That piano version sounds sick!

I didn’t dress for Halloween this year D: Wish I did, because some of the costumes I saw looked amazing! FREAKING LOVE YOURS!

Looks like an amazing time – I would love to go to something like this one day.

I went, “Who? Who? Who? Who?” to the list of lineups LOLOL. I live under a rock, hahahaha! But woot for having a blast at the event! It’s not my kind of event, so I am not certain I’d go, but it’s great you had a blast!

Your ninja costume turned out great! It totally fits you!

I hope when you go again next year, it’s just as awesome as the one you just went to now! ^^ Thanks for sharing your photos and experiences, Nancy!

So many people. XD Glad you had fun. My Halloween was fine. We had some trick or treaters and that’s good! I just spent it with my husband and Marley. I’m more a homebody sadly.

Amazing photos! And that pope is great. Love the costume on him~! You guys look equally amazing!

I saw your snaps! Your Halloween sounds so much fun. 😀 I love your costume!

I went as a maid and Mike was a butler. We gave out candy for trick or treat, then played Plants vs Zombies. A bit of a quiet Halloween, but I enjoyed it. 😀

I’m glad you had fun at Escape! The Psycho Circus decorations and visuals look so cool and appropriate for Halloween XD You look great in your ninja costume too!

Other than a work Halloween party, I didn’t do anything for it. Just had a quiet night at home!

Looks like you totally enjoyed your Halloween! I had exams during 31st Oct and the Halloween celebrations here are limited to a few theme parties here and there!
I totally loved your ninja outfit!

Looks like a fun event! I know of the EDC happening in Vegas or Miami… where was this one? I’m not familiar with the artists that you’ve listed but it still looked like a fabulous show.
I agree, it’s always those few individuals who give the venues a bad name.
    Loved your compilation video!

EDC is all over the world now XD. EDC Orlando happened this past weekend and there’s one in Puerto Rico and New York as well. Escape was at the NOS Event Center in San Bernardino :).
