Finding My Inner Chi [Winter Edition]
March 14, 2015

What does this post have to do with finding my actual inner chi? Eh, probably not much at all but I just wanted to use the title just cause. This quarter did a really good job in keeping me busy. But despite my busy scheduling, I still try to find time to do things that keep my mind away from all of the schoolwork. Long story short, this post is about the good little things happening this quarter that makes me sane (to some extent).

Feeling Dressy with Dresses
It took me about a year to build a decent dress inventory from nothing. This quarter, I started wearing dresses more casually whether it’s to work, school, or outings. I used to only wear dresses during special occasions, but I do enjoy wearing them casually now. Felicity (the awesome IT/hacker chick) from Arrow is known for wearing dresses and maybe it’s a coincidence I’m also working as IT and trying to get into cyber security ;D. I started watching the show a few months ago when I already have most of my dresses bought, but it’s a pretty cool similarity!

Dinnerware Things
After moving into the university village (not-so-fancy name for apartments), I had to buy some dinnerware for my part of the kitchen. I started out with 3 simple plates + bowls from IKEA and then expanded to buying a bunch cute but practical ceramic/glass plates, mini bowls, and cups from all sorts of places recently (emphasis on cute!). Even though it’s nothing like Fine China, I still like the assortment I have.

Too Crazy About Sushi
You probably know by now that I love eating sushi. Though I prefer to stick to anything that doesn’t contain imitation crab meat or baked/cooked fish (minus unagi even though its eel) in the mix. Every week, I would try to go for either a general sushi run, uni bowl run, or prepare chirashi bowls at home.

My Need for Speed
In reference to the driving portion of the game/movie (not the whole illegal/legal street races), driving can be fun unless you’re stuck in a traffic jam. I recently went on a road trip down to San Diego as a volunteer driver for my high school’s drumline competition. I actually enjoyed the driving part and really didn’t mind getting up at 2:45 am to drive the students down. I like cars to the point where I know the specs of many cars and can carry a conversation for a good while. Despite the fact that I always rave about wanting to buy a Mustang, ZL1, and one of the AMG models, I’m happy with my Acura.

Growing Plantas
After having a few conversations with a couple of my coworkers about growing flowers, I decided to give planting a try. My boyfriend bought me a couple of flowers before and it was pretty fun taking care of them. Even though cactuses and succulents are easier to maintain and can grow beautiful flowers, I’m not a big fan of them *o*. I didn’t want something that was too high maintenance so I bought a lucky bamboo plant for starters. It’s nice to have a plant around in the room.

I’m glad the quarter is almost over. Just one week of finals to go and spring break, here I come! (Which means I’m still behind my blog hopping game for another week.)

I’m glad that you’re able to enjoy some things this quarter despite being so busy with work and school. 😀

I think it’s great that you built up a dress inventory and that you’re wearing them 🙂 I’m not into dresses, but I know people like you’re into them, and you have some cute dresses from what I’ve seen! ^^

And I love looking at dinnerwares and stuff. I really like the Japanese-influenced ones a lot. If I ever move out and can afford to do an overhaul of my own dinnerware, I’d definitely invest in those 🙂

Good luck with the finals! And enjoy your well-deserved break during spring break! ^^

Yay! I’m glad you’re back! I’ve missed you! I know you’ve been busy, but it’s nice that you managed to find some things you enjoy during that busy time.

Plus dresses are awesome! I was known in the psych hospital as the girl with the many dresses, because that’s all that I would wear.

Yay for spring break coming up! Mine just ended. Boo

I think that anything that brings you even a little bit of happiness or calm helps you find your inner chi – does that even make any sense?

Regardless, I am not sure how I feel about wearing dresses – I’ve not worn one in years…I believe the last time was to a funeral. o.O

I love the idea of having an eclectic collection of
dinnerware – it allows you to express your personality. But I also think that when selecting pieces, you should have a theme or color in common. 🙂

I’ve yet to try sushi which makes me really sad. I always forget about wanting to try it when I’ve extra money or I miss the lunchtime specials. 🙁

I’m a horrible driver…actually, I don’t really drive much at all. But I’m glad to hear that you enjoy it. 🙂

Ugh…I don’t have a green thumb at all. My Mom barely allows me to water her plants because I kill practically everything. 😛

Aahh, I kind of miss buying dresses. I don’t wear them very often now, so I haven’t shopped for any in a while. The last time I wore a dress or skirt to work, my legs got really cold because of our AC! I think that’s why I don’t wear them casually now, haha.

You should post about your cute dinnerware! I love seeing cute bowls and plates and whatnot 🙂

I’m the same way about sushi. Except for unagi and anago, I prefer the raw fish ones. I also prefer nigiri over rolls!

Wow, 2:45am is sooo early! That’s great that you volunteered to drive them. I have an Acura too! I like driving it, but I’ve also had to bring it in multiple times for various fixes, so that’s annoying.

Bamboo plants are nice to have around, and they look nice too 🙂 If I were to get a plant, it’d probably be that because I prefer something low maintenance, haha.

Oh, awesome post 🙂 Dinnerware are so fun to buy! And I’m hoping to get into planting someday but will have to stick to the cactuses and succulents for now.

LOL your wardrobe is inspired from Felicity 😛 i’m not comfortable with wearing dresses unless it’s for party or wedding invitations so yeah, i only have a few dresses though they’re mostly casual looking and can be used for hangouts too. i don’t know, dresses feels weird for me. i prefer wearing skirt than dresses.

imitation crab meat? are you referring to kamaboko crab stick? i can sense how delicious it is to eat sushi with real, genuine seafood but i guess not using crab stick would make the sushi super expensive. it’s only the high end sushi who’d probably use real crab LOL

Yay for dresses! I’m trying to rebuild my dress collection too, although it’s a lot less floral now. I want it to go with most of my wardrobe.

I should upgrade my dinnerware too. I’d like to have a cuter kitchen.

I love wearing dresses too but I don’t feel completely comfortable when wearing them. There’s nothing wrong with the dresses, it’s just that I’m really, really insecure about my body. I guess I need to work on that.

Wow, I need to be like you when it comes to driving. I can drive, yes, but I’m scared to death when I’m behind the wheel so I almost never drive anymore. Lol! And you’re right, it is pretty fun most of the time but the traffic jams… Oh, they make driving unbearable.

A bamboo plant can really make a difference in a room. I would like to see how it turns out when you’ve been taking care of it 🙂 I would love to take care of plants too; I am actually thinking of growing some as well, but it’s just because I want to feed my guinea pigs some fresh veggies 😀

If I lived somewhere where the weather was warmer I’d be in dresses all of the time. I mean, I still wear dresses in the winter months but I have to wear leggings and more layers on top, and by the end of it you can’t even see the dress!

I’d also like to get into growing plants, but my flat is always too warm and everything dies. 🙁
