First Half, Touchdown
October 29, 2015

Last week’s FriDate took place at a sushi restaurant. It’s a new place that we haven’t been to before and it was pretty good! I ordered the chef’s special where the chef customizes the plate with an arrangement of sushi pieces. It’s practically an omakase on a budget and I chose a couple of items. The chef arranged a beautiful plate full of ikura, uni, salmon, cuttlefish, yellowtail, and tuna (along with a couple of unnamed pieces). The plate was more than enough to get me full, especially since it had rice on the side. Afterwards, we went to Honeymee for some awesome dessert. The honeycomb complements the ice cream too well!

On top of all of the work I already do, I took up an opportunity to help a professor do research analysis. Basically, I have to retrieve the data about the topic and make sense out of it. In a month, I have to do a poster presentation about the data to an audience. Luckily, I have a partner to work with so it shouldn’t be too bad. Meanwhile, TA work has been great so far!

  • My boyfriend and I went to a new sushi bowl place at school last week. Even though I appreciate an option for brown rice, I still like the sushi bowls at MYO Sushi!
  • Escape Halloween is finally here tomorrow! I barely started to plan out the logistics today 🎃.
  • Hurray for midterms week this past week~ I’m happy about the results from my Internet Security midterm 🔒.
  • Represented my digital forensics club at the Cyber Security and Awareness fair. “Let me explain to you about digital forensics… And come to our club meetings!
  • Got a bag of authentic Iranian pistachios and they are a-m-a-z-i-n-g.
  • Became addicted to the CatSimulator app on the iPhone. I guess my goal in life as a cat is to destroy everything I can.

I shall be your dog companion and save things 😛

I need to do date nights one day with my husband again. I used to do it when I had money and a job. I would love to treat my husband to sushi again. Glad you had a great time with the boyfriend!

MMMMM. I’m not into sushi, but your experience sounds amazing! I like how it’s arranged!

The Honeymee ice cream looks good, too! I tried something similar, but I can’t say I was fond of the honeycomb! But it was definitely an experience worth trying once! ^^

It’s great that your TA experience has been going well so far! Keep it up, Professor Nancy! XD

And btw, what makes an Iranian pistachios different from other pistachios? Is it different seasoning or something? I tried Googling it, but I wanted to get your opinion on it! 😀

I like the Iranian pistachios better. It doesn’t taste like the Californian pistachios in a way that the texture is different… Oh, and your hand doesn’t become powdery when you handle the Iranian pistachios. Big pro! It also has a wettish texture rather. 🙂

Not really a fan of sushi, but it makes me want to eat all of that in that plate! *.* And that dessert looks marvelous! Glad that you’re having a good week so far! Are you on a semestral break, too? Haha we’re ending the break in a couple of days though 🙁

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2015 at 8:54 pm

      Quarter systems don’t have breaks :(. At least it’s a 10-week session rather than a 16-week session :).

That sushi makes me drool and, I’m glad to hear your TA work has been doing great for you!

Have you tried Honeymee’s combo of chocolate AND honeycomb? It is insanely delish and you should try it to give it a try!

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2015 at 8:53 pm

I haven’t seen the option with chocolate and honeycomb on the menu before. I tried to order a different variation at the Rowland Heights area but they didn’t let me ;(. The search continues!

Yum, that plate of sushi looks good! I love going to places where they have an omakase option. It’s nice to just take the chef’s recommendation and be surprised 🙂

That’s cool that you’re helping a professor do research analysis. I’m glad you’re happy with your midterm results and that TA work has been going well too!

Yum. I always love your sushi photos! I have not ever had a chef special before, but I’ll be going to a (sorta pricey haha) restaurant in January where the menu is basically custom and you just tell the waiter/waitress what kind of food you like and they’ll cook you the courses.

I have to do a couple of presentations for both work and external events, I don’t know how I would feel presenting with someone, but it is pretty nerve-wracking!
