Food and Wine Festival

A+N Foodism is a blogging series about the food place(s) Nancy and her boyfriend (A+N) visited at a particular town or eatery. There may be multiple parts because the town is too big to have a complete roundup post in one go. Bon Appétit~

Disney California Adventure kicked off their Food & Wine Festival today. My boyfriend and I were pretty excited about the selections being offered at the kiosks throughout the park. We didn’t have a chance to visit every kiosk today but I am sure we’ll stop by all of them over the next few weeks. Check out the full menu on Disney’s website.

We went through a good number of kiosks and tried out whatever looked good. The portion size for the food and drinks are on the smaller side so you can’t really make a full meal out of buying one dish alone. Each dish ranges from about $4 to $10 and drinks from $8 to $20. It’s worth our money because of the positive experience. If you want a full meal, I have a list of recommendations somewhere in the back of my head…

With that said, here are the food and drinks we enjoyed today:

  • Chèvre Fromage Blanc Tartine ~ infused with Rosemary and Honey, with Toasted Hazelnuts
  • Flight – Mimosa ~ Pear Mimosa, Apricot Mimosa, and Mango Mimosa
  • Grilled Beef Tenderloin Slider ~ with Chimichurri Sauce
  • Warm Olive Focaccia ~ with Olive Oil and Sea Salt
  • Braised Wagyu Beef on Creamy Polenta ~ with Haricot Vert-Red Onion Salad and Roasted Cipollini Onion
  • French Onion Mac and Cheese ~ with Parmesan Crumble and Chives
  • Ancient Ale ~ Wine/Beer Hybrid
  • Chicken Teriyaki Slider ~ with Spicy Dole Pineapple Jam
  • Korean Barbecue Beef Short Rib Tacos ~ with Kimchi Slaw
  • Flight – Sangria ~ White Sangria, Peach Sangria, Red Sangria
  • White Sangria ~ Ordered two for myself…
  • Red Sangria ~ One for the boyfriend.

Overall, we enjoyed everything we ordered. My favorite would be the grilled beef tenderloin slider and my boyfriend’s favorite is the chèvere fromage blanc tartine. As for drinks, I liked the white sangria so much that I ordered two. Meanwhile, the red sangria is his absolute fave.

We also went to check out a live demo where a chef cooked up a plate of Jackfruit Carnitas Banh Mi Nachos. Instead of carnitas, you have shredded jackfruit. The condiments used in bani mi (cilantro, daikon, and carrots) are used in this dish. One of the kiosks sell this dish and we’ll probably give it a try one of these days!

    Omg, omg, omg. The list of food is making me SO hungry. You always make me hungry! Haha. I especially like the sound of the grilled beef tenderloin slider with chimchurri sauce. (As I wrote this I scrolled down and saw that was your favourite, so clearly we are food connoisseurs and have the same taste because we are amazing, haha)

    Also, white sangria sounds interesting! I love sangria, so I’m guessing they use white wine instead of red?

    Amazing photos! I’m going away to eat now because my belly is rumbling, haha.

      You need to get yourself back to Disneyland pronto!!! And yes, they use white wine instead of red in the sangria :). It’s on the sweet side for those who love sweet alcoholic beverages ;).

    Oh, yay! Glad to see you writing this column again! 🙂 I was wondering what had happened to it.

    Food & Wine Festival sounds like awesome! I’m glad you two were excited about it and was able to check it out today. You didn’t check out everything, but there are other Saturdays for you to check out!

    I feel it would have been a bit pricey for me, but if I were with someone, I would definitely give the experience a try at least once 😀

    That Chevre Fromage Blanc Tartine sounds sooo good, as well as the warm olive focaccia. I love that kind of bread *_* The chicken slider and the Korean kalbi taco, too — YUM. I would have also like the white sangria. That jackfruit banh mi nacho sounds sooooo different and unique. I hope you will try it in the future!

    That’s awesome that Disney has a Food & Wine Festival! That sounds like a fun thing to try out. I think it’s good when the portion sizes are on the smaller size. That way you can try out multiple kiosks 😀 As I scrolled through the photos, I think the tacos caught my eye the most, haha. Everything you guys got looks and sounds good though!

    All that food sounds amazing, Nancy! You always seem to eat at the best places. All the pictures are making me so hungry.

    The mac and cheese looks so good. I absolutely love mac n cheese but I rarely go to restaurants that serve it. I usually have to settle for the microwaved version which is nowhere near as tasty!

    Haha I love that you got two sangrias for yourself. 😄

    It sounds like you had a great time having little tastes of everything the festival had to offer. It sounds like the small prices would add up, but it’s also good that the portions were small so they allowed you to try bits of everything.

    The mac and cheese looks really delicious, mmmm it has been a while since I have eaten mac and cheese!! I am hungry Nancy!!! Also, focaccia ALL THE WAY. SOFT DAMN FOCACCIA 🤤

    The burger looks good, don’t mind that I don’t eat meat. Still looks amazing. 🙂

    I gotta admit, jackfruit is a really nice fruit. I enjoy it in shaved ice desserts and as a drink!
