Foodtime + Summer Haul
September 20, 2014

A foodtime/work adventures post or a summer haul post? Why not both!

Last week, a few coworkers and I went to a Mexican seafood restaurant down the street for lunch. I had a shrimp and octopus cocktail, as the usual. While waiting for our food, we saw a few waiters bringing out maracas, a slice of cake, a huge sombrero, and sang happy birthday to someone at a table nearby. One of the engineers from our table thought it would be funny to play a prank on our parts guy and told one of the waiters it’s their birthday X’D.

On Tuesday, my boyfriend and I had an afternoon meal after work. We got ourselves sushi bowls from the place I went to after my interview a few months ago. This time around, I got the deluxe sushi bowl and I liked it a lot more than the overpriced chirashi bowl from another restaurant. The bowl had salmon, tuna, yellowtail, imitation crab, shrimp, spicy tuna, and some veggies with rice on the bottom ☺.

Then on Thursday, one of the VP’s and I went to eat all-you-can-eat (ayce) sushi! I liked this place 9001x more than the previous ayce I went to the other month and even better, it’s 8 minutes away from work. The fish:rice ratio is perfect and the fish is a lot fresher/better (you can even see it in the texture). I almost drowned in happiness eating sushi (then again, I usually always do so this is no surprise). The items we ordered included Nigiri: {masago, yellowtail, salmon, tuna, octopus, white tuna, cajun albacore, salmon eggs, flying fish eggs, and surf clam}, Rolls: {baby lobster and soft shell crab}, and Appetizers: {dynamite and baked mussels}. We talked to the sushi chef during the meal and I really liked his “sushi philosophy” (see 3rd sentence)! He kept on preparing sushi for us to eat even after we were full, which is a first because normally sushi chefs don’t do that. In the middle of everything, I was talking to the VP about how salmon eggs (big eggs) was my favorite but it wasn’t in the ayce menu and later on, the sushi chef made two pieces of salmon eggs for me!!!! My day was made ☺. Yes, I am aware about my obsession over sushi-things.

Yesterday, it was my “last day” as a full-time worker so we went out for a “back to school celebration” at an ale house. I’m taking next week off from work because of school and returning the following week as part-time. It’s good to have more experience on the side ☺. Oh! And I got a company v-neck shirt and a box of business cards with my name/title/contact-info yesterday~

Instead of doing a complete Summer Haul post where I slap everything I bought/received into this post, I decided to pick the highlights. I haven’t been too crazy about shopping over the summer because of work ;o.

On the first row, the first four dresses + last skirt are from Windsor Store. For some reason, I still have the need to stock up on dresses. The other skirt was from Rue 21 (which I didn’t know existed until I walked around the entire mall). Earlier this summer, my aunt gave me a few “goodie” bags full of new clothes! The first four shirts on the second row and the hoodie from the third row are from the goodie bags (American Eagle/BDG from Urban Outfitters). I bought the 5th shirt on the second row from Hollister because I needed more shirts for work *o*. Moving on to the third row, there’s a v-neck with the company’s name/slogan, Gilly Hicks sweater, and a Hollister tank top my boyfriend’s sister gave me for my birthday. Oh, and I bought a few pairs of sneakers (burgundy, black, and blue) the other day ☺.

Yum! More delicious food post! You sure do love those sushis! I’m glad you like that. I just wish I could like them, myself.

Good luck with the starting of your new semester!

And I like those sneakers you bought! What brand is it? I especially like the burgundy colour, which is odd since I do not like that colour! But that shade looks great! ^^

“I haven’t been too crazy about shopping over the summer because of work ;o.”

What is this? :O I thought worker bees are suppose to indulge in every off-hour they could get via shopping or other things!? 😉 In all seriousness, these look pretty cute. I assume you got sweet deals as well. Was this some outlet mall in your area or what? I feel like I would be pretty selective of what I’d buy especially when price tags are considered.

I absolutely love sushi so as I drool over the photos, I am nodding my head in agreement how obsession with sushi things is a good thing. The sushi looks really fresh! Hee yay for getting a business card! Does it look fancy? I hope you get to stock up on dresses! 🙂

Ahhhh all that food looks delicious. I would have drooled over the sushi before I ate it! The colours are simply marvellous. I have no doubt you enjoyed it, hehe. 🙂 I cannot resist raw salmon nigiri. Love love love.

Those goodie bags remind me of the fukubukuro goodie bags I bought in Japan. I wasn’t too sure about buying them because I had no idea what was inside. I assume you didn’t really know what was going to be in yours, either. It’s a fun idea but unfortunate if you don’t like everything in it. But it looks like you did like the majority of what was in yours.

I really like what I see in the second row, those checkered shirts look like they have some nice colours! Not to mention I need more checkered and collared shirts of my own.

Hope you have a good week off work and maintain that work-school balance!

Beautiful. Make me hungry, why don’t you? 😛 Some things we just don’t get out in the boonies and it makes me sincerely miss the coast.

Here’s hoping the new school semester treats you right, darling! I think a mini celebration for heading back to school sounds perfect. Although, I think I’m the kind who’s up for a mini celebration any time!

Psst, I stock up on dresses, too! 🙂

haha, I wonder how many people lie about their birthday at restaurants to get a free dessert 🙂

Wahh, you had so much sushi! Now I’m craving sushi too, haha. That was really nice of the sushi chef to make pieces with salmon egg just for you. Everything looks tasty!

Nice haul too! Looks like you got a lot of cute things, especially the dresses 🙂

The sushi looks amazing. I don’t actually like it myself (its a texture thing, cant stop the gag reflex lol) but I love how colorful and artsy the images are anyways and if I liked sushi I could imagine liking the dishes 🙂

Sounds like you got lots of nice clothes over the summer, the floral dress looks like it is probably really pretty!

    WAE SUSHI AGAIN

I should ban myself from coming to your blog LOL jk

I haven’t had sushi in 2 months!! and the other day when I wanted to, my dad gave me the look saying “but sushi doesn’t make me full” DJEKFHWLK can you believe HIM. aughhhh

once, there’s this sushi restaurant I often go to and the chef, an original Japanese (omg wth “original japanese”), was so friendly that he was also the one making the sushi for all the customers and I just thought it’s so nice of him to do that, you know. Japanese people are so friendly and when I was so happy he served me his sushi, he smiled and I was like WAAAAAH lol

surf clams are awesome! the first time I ate them was in china, I think… I didn’t know what they were back then; I was given surf clam sashimi because sometimes seafood restaurants in china doesn’t have salmon (but they have surf clams? it’s weird? lol wth i don’t get it)… its chewy texture is pretty tiring sometimes though it’s good stuff. still, my obsession with salmon will always be the first on top of everything

ehhhhh??? nancy doesn’t like onions!? whoaaahh whyyy?? LOL
it’s been long ever since I ate dynamite whoah T-T i think they’re high on cholesterol which makes me avoid them haha the mayonnaise drizzle can be pretty insane though sometimes

      >:I. NO! Don’t ban yourself. If only others can secretly ban themselves…. :P/. I don’t get why there’s surf clams but not salmon! Is there anything to do with the mercury levels? :ooooo

I love grilled onions but having braces makes the smell amplified x1297194871 D:.

    I like these colorful pictures!
(Good) food related photos are not easy to do but if yours give an appetite right away, does it say something, right?! 🙂

Btw I was browsing among some older posts too but could not leave a comment.. Kind regards

PS: I never thought before about getting desert as for a made-up Birthday 😉
