Good Vibes
November 17, 2014

It’s week 8 of the quarter already? Finals is right around the corner in about two weeks *o*.

The quarter has been pretty decent so far. I’m doing better than I expected considering how I’m working while going to school at the same time.  Along with time management, I’m doing pretty well with money management too ☺. I’m happy with how things are going so far; especially since I worked my way up to be where I am today since starting college a bit over two years ago. My next step is to try to get more involved in cyber security and move into the security or networking job field.

A Few School Tales

Last week, I went to Target and I saw some Christmas lights on sale… Since I won’t be here around Christmas time, I would have around 4~5 weeks for the lights to be up. I ended up buying a box of pure white-colored lights and hung it on a side of the wall in my apartment room. The lights look really nice when it’s lit up and it’s great as a night light since we don’t have one here. It makes me feel excited for the holiday season :D.

A few weeks ago, the apartment staff thought it was a good idea for a fire drill to happen at 8:30pm. It lasted all the way until 10PM (or something). I was in class during that time but if I wasn’t, I would be pisssssed off because they gave no warnings ahead of time and it’s at night! At least the fire drill lasted a bit after I came back to the apartment.

The tech club I’m in had a talk of car hacking (part 1) a few meetings ago. The interesting part is that one of the ways a car could be hacked is through bluetooth connection. The database can be manipulated to grant the attacker access to the ECU. For older cars without bluetooth, the attacker would have to physically break into the car and modify the ECU. And when I mention car hack, it means somewhere along the line of controlling seat belts, air bags, radio, breaks, and etc.

Foodcapades (Kind Of)
  • On Veteran’s Day, my boyfriend and I made homemade breakfast together. We had the traditional omelettes, pancakes, and bacon.
  • On Thursday, one of my coworkers finally presented his master’s degree thesis so a couple of coworkers and I “celebrated the occasion” at the school’s brewery that just opened. Funny enough, I live right across the street from the brewery!
  • On Friday, my boyfriend and I had our FriDate at Chili’s. I couldn’t decide between steak or ribs soooo I ended up choosing both :>.
  • We had an early (but first) Thanksgiving dinner together last night. We cooked up some egg rolls, salmon with feta cheese, and croissant cones with edamame salad + potato salad. And of course, we have a lot of leftovers *o*.

ps. I’ll be a bit late in returning comments. I have another midterm coming up.

Good luck with the midterms! You’ll rock it!

When you can, take a photo of that Christmas light get-up! Would love to see how you set it up and how it looks 🙂

And holy cow. A 1.5-hour fire drill? I would not be happy, that’s for sure! I don’t mind it being like 5-15 minutes, but 1.5-hour?! Heck no to that!

The home-made breakfast sound lovely. Omelette is one thing I’ve yet to tackle. Folding that egg and all sounds too difficult for me! And huzzah for early Thanksgiving meal 😀 I don’t think I’ll be doing that for Thanksgiving (except at work), so I hope the others enjoy their Thanksgiving meal for me ^^

Yeah, finals are coming up, and my semester is almost over. I’ve already registered for classes which is great, because I am going to be a full time student, which is even better.

    Good luck on your midterm!

That’s great that things are going well! This makes me want to hang up some lights in our house too 🙂 We don’t really decorate for the holidays, but I think lights would look nice.

That’s pretty long for a fire drill. Good thing you missed most of it! Hopefully it really was a drill and not something wrong.

Ooh, the car hacking talk sounds interesting. That seems to be a growing problem as we put more technology in our vehicles.

I love homemade breakfasts. My husband makes big homemade breakfasts on the weekend once in a while 🙂 Your early Thanksgiving dinner sounds good too!

My semester is almost over as well. Our finals is the third week of December. I can’t wait.

I’m sorry to hear that your apartment decided it was time for a fire-drill with no warnings or notices. I mean, if they were going to do this, at least give notices. My apartment always gave notices as to when they were doing their inspections. Although, they half ass did their inspections. But what can you do?

I can’t wait until Thanksgiving. I was invited to go to Black Friday/Thursday shopping if I have money by then. But with several things happening, I don’t think I’m going to go.

Good idea of your apartment owners to have fire drill! It’ll keep you safe. That car hacking thing is really scary, you wouldn’t have any idea if your car has been hacked… really scary…

haha nice one for choosing both steak and ribs lol!

    Goodluck on your midterms!

I hope you aced your midterms! And, I would’ve been pissed with the fire drill too. My apartment doesn’t do fire drills or maybe, I just haven’t been home for them.

That’s such an early Thanksgiving dinner!! I’m already dreading the plans and calls from family. It’ll probably commence the start of this week since they looove to procrastinate, haha!
