Gratifying Friday
September 8, 2012

Yesterday was an amazing day overall. I enjoyed the morning and afternoon with my boyfriend. We started the day off by having Pho for breakfast and it was delicious. Afterward, we went to CityWalk and enjoyed browsing through some stores together. We also stopped by Jamba Juice later on for some fruit smoothies and went to California Pizza Kitchen to order some pizza for my band kids. Not to mention, my band kids finally met my boyfriend and the whole event was pretty interesting in a positive way. As much as I would love to share the whole experience in detail, long story short- I had a really great time with my boyfriend and everything went by perfectly.

Being the proud band alumni I am, I decided to attend my high school’s football game last night. It was a disappointment that the opposing school’s band didn’t show up. I suppose that happened due to budget cuts. In my opinion, the game is much better when both bands show up because the football teams aren’t the only ones who are playing against each other.. The bands are too! I am pleased by how the band performed yesterday. The band still incorporate some pelvic thrusts in some of the tunes that they play and I think that is legit. At the end, the football team won with a score of 48-12.

Several times throughout the night, people asked me if I miss performing with the band. Of course, I miss performing with the band, except that the practices were intense. I’m glad I graduated happily and earn the privilege of being a band alumni. Regardless, I did what I could to help around yesterday by putting cuffs on people in uniform, tying people’s hair up for the shako, and carrying a Mellophone case to the field.

The halftime show so far looks great for a month’s worth of work. I am looking forward to the completed show in one of the upcoming field show competitions. During the game, I had a conversation with one of the other band alumni and it was pretty interesting. I am delighted to see that some people do mature even further after graduating from high school. I am only saying this because there are some people out there who are still immature and have really bad sportsmanship after graduating from high school. I suppose this is where the process of “natural selection” takes place.

Finally for your viewing pleasure, here are some pictures from yesterday which are also on my Instagram/Tumblr. They should be self-explanatory without a caption, right?

Jamba Juice and California Pizza Kitchen – two of my favorite places! I’m glad your friends from band met your boyfriend. My friends and I seem to have a problem where we don’t meet the boyfriends and girlfriends!

That is so cool you could go back to your school’s game as an alumni. Did you run into any teachers? They’re probably so proud of you!

Lmao natural selection. This is a good point. My brother graduated college last year and I think he went the opposite direction because he is so immature now. Or maybe it’s because I see him more now and his immaturity is getting to me.

You and your boyfriend look so cute together! I love the one where you barely reach his shoulder lol.

Actually what I wrote was that roommates steal from roommates desks! Which is even lower. I was transfering from a state school to a private school, not from a community college, so I can transfer with my two semesters of credits. There are actually a lot of 20 year old freshmen, international students. But it’s just my mom who’s picky about this kind of stuff because my brother graduated college at 21.

Lol I’ve been 5’3 since about the same time. The last time I saw the boy I mentioned in my post was when he was 15, not 18. He’s two years younger than me! Boys do grow after 18 though but not that much.

Urgh I feel for you. I hated my old school because my ex boyfriend goes there and yeah I hate him of course. So do the byotches from high school.

Lmao yeah my school has computers on XP but there are better computers … just hard to get them because so many poor students.

I’m sorry about all the budget cuts that are affecting your education. I live in a rich area so not many problems here but I did hear about the cuts in NYC.

    Take care!

You have a boyfriend!?? What when did this happen, nonetheless, I am happy for you!! Looks like you two had a great time. Pizza Kitchen has some of the best foood ever and then you went to Jamba Juice!?!? Wow what a perfect date.

It’s great that your are still able to be a part of the band even though you’re graduated. Youre like their mentor. That must be a nice feeling.
Soo how wa your summer!? It’s been a while since we last talked. I wish I could blog as much as you too. I admire your perserverence and dedication. Talkk to you very soon

Well the pictures make it clear that you had a wonderful time with your boyfriend! And seeing the band perform must’ve been fun too! I’d love to see the videos, but I forgot my headphones and I’m sitting in a Starbucks right now, so I’ll try and remember to watch them later!

Really? The music player works for my computer – you just have to wait for a couple seconds for it to start playing.

Surprisingly, I did very well in French on Friday! The teacher seems to like me, and I made a couple more friends. Everything’s looking up for me! 😀

Aw, it’s terrible you feel that way about your college classes. But I understand too, because I hate the feeling of wasting time and money, and taking a course you know you’re going to excel in could feel like a waste of time.
Either way, I hope you still manage to have a good time.

Man, I’ve been meaning to go to Jamba Juice for awhile, just haven’t done it yet. That’s awesome that you had a great time with your boyfriend. Also the pictures are lovely ;D

You guys look cute together! Heheh

Being part of a band sounds like fun. We don’t have anything like that in the UK, wish we do though. Schools aren’t go big on sports games here. They do have matches against other school but it isn’t promoted around the school and no one really goes to watch, maybe only the parents. That’s such a shame though as I’m sure players will perform far better when they have the whole school supporting them.

d’aww you band alumni you :’) it must feel great seeing the younger ones performing…must feel nostalgic! and super cool, a football team/game! my high school AND uni BOTH have football fields but no football team T_T very disappointing.

Glad you had a great time with your boyfriend. I love California Pizza kitchen. I went there in boston and the deserts were amazing.

Anywho, I always want to be in band but I went to a really small high school (I was in a class of 60 students) and we couldn’t have one. It sounds exciting.

Do you think the band has any influence to the players performance? I think that would be interesting.

I was in band for a couple of months when I was in middle school. I played the Flute. I also know how to play the piano and a bit of guitar. I’m just super shy so I dropped out when I found out we were be preforming in front of the school!

It would have been neat if the other band would have shown! I’ve watched movies where bands compete and I think it’s really cool, and keeps things interesting!

You and your boyfriend are cute! 🙂
