Happy August
August 2, 2014

Sprinkles Cupcakes is finally opening on Wednesday so I’m planning on dropping by after work to join in on the cupcake madness ☺.  I have been anticipating this moment for months even though I’m moving 30 miles away to live at school this coming fall. Even then, at least Sprinkles will be a lot closer to home in LA without having to drive to downtown.

As far as cyber camp goes, it turns out that I did receive a full ride to go but there were too much complications with personal arrangements so I think I have to pass up the offer. I’m a bit bummed out but I went to camp twice and learned the basics of pentesting. I’m sure other opportunities that will expand my knowledge and resources for cyber security will be available when the time comes.

I have been pretty busy at work this week. The fiscal year just ended so we were scrambling around to prepare for an inventory count that took place this past Friday. I was involved with the inventory count so I went to work at 6am and was assigned 3 racks. I breezed through two of them and the last one took a couple of hours to complete. There were several boxes of nozzle bodies (or imagine ¾in³ metal cylinders) that needed to be counted. Each box weighed around 45lbs and had thousands of nozzle bodies! Thankfully, I had access to a counter scale so that eased the process so my only challenge was carrying the boxes and transferring the nozzle bodies over. In the middle of the count, the VP of Administration told me to skip out on the 2nd round during the internal audit process so I can put together a WIP package… Those accounting classes I took is actually useful for once.

Here Comes the Food

One of our other VP’s bought me sushi the other day! It’s a California roll with tempura shrimp on the inside while being topped with salmon, yellowtail, or tuna. Normally a roll isn’t enough to fill me up but this one did (which is a first).

A day later, I went to eat at The Habit with another coworker. I normally order the regular charbroiled burgers but went for the “Santa Barbara Style”, which had 2 patties, avocados, grilled onions, sourdough bread, and other bits. I normally prefer to have my burgers lettuce wrapped but the sourdough bread caught my attention this time around. Comparing this to In-N-Out, I rather have this hamburger because it has ~more content~.

Today, I got to spend time with my boyfriend and we ate at MYO Sushi. This place is amazing because you can literally choose what goes into your sushi or pick from popular options. I chose a salmon bowl from one of the popular options and it came with salmon, fried onions, avocado, cucumber, red onions, and jalapeño. The order automatically came with miso soup, edamame beans, salad, and fried sweet potatoes.

Have a great month ✦ ✧ ✦~

The fish on top of the rolls looks sooooo good…

YUM. That burger looks really good! I love sourdough bread, so I would have definitely tried that out, too 🙂

That’s good you’re getting a Sprinkle Cupcakes 😀 And I’m sorry you won’t be able to go to Cyber Camp again, but you’re right in that you will have other opportunities to do so in the future 😀

Woot for your accounting classes coming in handy! I always like it when I learn something that’s useful and practical in what I do 🙂

Anyway, looks like you had a good and productive week! I hope next week will be good for you!

I’ve actually never seen sushi in a bowl like that! Still looks yummy.

Congrats on receiving the free ride to cyber camp! That’s too bad that you’ll have to pass it up this time though. At least you were able to go a couple times in the past 🙂

Aahh, those boxes are heavy. Sounds like you’d get a work out carrying those around, haha. I hope things are less busy now!

I don’t often see California rolls topped with other sushi. That roll looks good! I’m a big fan of sourdough bread too, especially with sandwiches or just as toast. I don’t think I’ve had it with a burger before.

I like the idea of choosing what goes in your sushi 🙂 There’s a place that does that here, but I don’t really like how they make their rolls (too much rice in it).

Aaahh all this food is making me jealous! I’m on a tight budget this month so I’m cutting out dining. Don’t make me back out on my plans! XD

I’m sorry you had to pass on cyber camp, but don’t worry! There will be other chances. 🙂

Mmmm the salmon bowl looks so great! Salmon is so good for you too! Well, that is if it’s wild-caught salmon. The farm raised ones….are good for you, but aren’t as great as the wild-caught ones. You’re aware of that saying, “you are what you eat” right? YEP, same goes for the animals we eat haha. Makes sense though right? If an animal isn’t eating what its naturally supposed to eat, it’ll be less nutritious to consume than an animal that eats what is normal for it to eat. Same goes for humanzz.

That roll has shrimp tempura in it so I can see how it was filling! Anything tempuraized is prettttty filling baha, pero no bueno para tu estómago.

Have you tried making Sprinkles cupcakes? I know that they have their cake mixes in the store you can buy. Maybe that’ll help you with your addiction! You can just bake it in the comforts of your own home & you won’t have to drive to get it!

You always eat the most delicious looking food. Damn, I need a proper job!

Busy weeks at work might seem hard work but at least the time goes quickly. 🙂 It’s a shame that you couldn’t got cyber camp, but like you say there will be more opportunities to allow you to build your skills and knowledge.

That’s so cool that your into cyber security. What aspects of the field are you interested in?

The food pics are making me drool! You must have some awesome co-workers haha. I’m actually looking forward to trying In-and-out and other fast food places when I’m in SF. Any recommendations? (I’ve never actually been to the US)

Happy August Nancy! Mmmm that salmon bowl looks super good. Sounds really awesome that it came with miso and edamame (two of my favourite sides! Love!).

I’m not sure if what you had to do is exactly the same as what my mum does in retail, but she loves when she does this thing called “scan count” and has to count all the stock… I guess it’s because she still gets paid for the long hours. :p

    *sobs quietly in corner*

That Santa Barbara burger looks heavenly. I really need to take a trip to the US, some time soon. It’s so unfair.

Sorry you can’t go camp this year! But at least you managed to go twice before 🙂

Be sure to send me a cupcake in le post! Thnxxxx

I know nothing about sprinkles cupcakes so I visited their website and now i’m drooling over their ice cream. that was a bad decision haha. the only cupcake brand here is twelve cupcakes and even that one is expensive and i’m not interested. ah, i was never a cupcake person…. (i think they’re pretty on display but when you strip all their add-on plugins – lolwhut – they’re just ordinary)

oh wow you have work. wow. you’re very active. tell me your secret. i have 3 months break and all i do is play pc games 24/7 and got scolded by my parents because i’m being a “useless lazy dirtbag” (or so they phrase it)…

the sushi. is. so. fresh. and. fat. and *makes dragonborn noises* i’m drooling ugggh salmon makes me weak and any sushi with salmon and tuna on them are pure winners.
sourdough bread is yumyum :3 hm, wait…what do you mean by lettuce wrapped burgers?? as in… you eat burgers with lettuce instead of bread– wha?? i’m confuse lol

i’ve never seen jalapeno included in any japanese food so that’s a really interesting addition there. ugh what’s with this post and salmon i just can’t– *dead*

have a great month to you too!
(omg i’m getting older soon. next week. *screeches*)

I was never a cupcake person either! I can’t eat too much baked things (that uses dough/similar) and Sprinkles made me fall in love with them. And lettuce-wrapped burgers are burgers but they use lettuce in place of bread (second sentence). But I made a small exception for the sourdough bread ;).

Annnnd I just got lucky with work… I think :o. There are so much work for me to do and not enough time D:.

      Ps. I love salmon 😉 ♥

Yummy food again! I seriously need to find awesome places to eat with my husband.

Glad that accounting came in handy somehow. It’s always good when we know we took something useful that can help us out later.

    Good week is good! ^.^
