Mini Road Trip
September 29, 2013

Can’t you believe we’re already hitting the 10th month of the year?

On Wednesday, I had an exam for Chemistry for the first five chapters of the course. This included dealing with significant figures, calculating unit conversions, dealing with properties, balancing compound charges, and naming polyatomic ions. I practically spent all of Tuesday memorizing the polyatomic ions and figuring out how to do unit conversions. One unit conversion in particular took me 1.5 hours to complete… Mostly because of some typos on the calculator. I’m still not used to using a calculator ~__~. After a while, I got the problem down to 5 minutes.

Speaking of Chemistry, I got a 9.67/10 on the second quiz :D. As for History, I got an 8.5/10 on the first test and 6.5/6 on the second test. I’m finally getting a hang of school and having to study during my “off-hours” once again.

On Thursday, I attended the first meeting for the honors society and it seems promising. I have to fulfill 100 points to satisfy my active membership requirements, which doesn’t seem too bad. I could easily get 15 points by buying something for a fundraiser at Panda’s Express in a couple of weeks. Following the honors society meeting, I went out to have lunch with a couple of my friends from Stats class last semester at Panera Bread. I haven’t hung out with them for over 3 months so that was a nice reunion that we had.

Then came Friday; my “boyfriend day”. We went for a 3-hour drive through the Angeles National Forest/San Gabriel Mountains (or through the 2 “freeway” for you local readers). It was a nice drive considering how the weather was cool and we made a few stops on the side to enjoy the view from the mountains. At some point, we were at the elevation of 7,900ft. After the drive, we stopped by his school to take care of his mentoring duties and went to a Taiwanese food place afterwards. We ordered grilled salmon, crispy shrimp rolls, and shaved ice cream with mangoes + strawberries. The only thing that threw me off was the crispy shrimp rolls. I expected it to have just shrimp wrapped in wonton, but it had some stinky tofu in it too. The smell of the stinky tofu really threw me off and made me think there’s something wrong with the shrimp roll (I didn’t find out about the inclusion and existence of the stinky tofu until today). At least the shaved ice cream made up for it. The serving was really big and delicious.  A few hours later, we went to Albertsons to buy sushi. I think I am finally getting the hang of the pink ginger *o*.

Yesterday, I went back to the dentist to have 2 of my teeth pulled from the bottom. I have to go back next week to get the braces attached. I’m struggling with eating and it doesn’t help that I like to eat. At least it’s a temporary problem.

I know what you mean about it already being October, my birthday is on Friday, and I am so not ready for it. 🙁

I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling with eating…but I hope that things improve after you get your braces. 🙂

    Yay for the awesome grades!

I love road trips. My husband and I like to take one-day trips to different places in our state.

Congrats on the good grades on your quiz and tests! I hope getting the 100 points for the honors society won’t be too troublesome.

A drive through the mountains sounds so nice and relaxing 🙂 All of the food sounds good too! Well, except for the stinky tofu part, haha. Tofu is one of the few foods that I don’t like.

Aah, getting 2 teeth pulled sucks. I had to get several teeth pulled back when I had braces too. I hope you’ll get accustomed to the braces soon!

I feel your pain with braces and loving to eat. The struggle when I had braces was real. SO REAL.

Aw, Nancy. You’re so smart it makes me jealous. You’re doing way better than I did in school, lol. At least it’s going well. I feel like a proud mama duck ^_^

Your boyfriend day sounded so fun – particularly the bit about food but excluding the bit about stinky tofu. I remember when I went to China and we went to dinner with one of our teachers and she ordered that. I was like T_T for the whole meal. Not nice.

I’m definitely planning to visit America some time next year because I’m 21 now and I will definitely come back so we can be dignified ladies when you become 21 #EHEHEHEHEHEH
