Need For Speed
March 22, 2014

I’m done with week 5 of the semester! Which means there are 11 weeks left of school. This semester has been good so far; the earliest I need to wake up is at 7 am (previous semesters: 5:30am), I don’t have night classes, I don’t need to spend too much time studying for a class, and I have time to do other things now. I had a test for calculus earlier this week and it was decent.. Though I totally blanked out on a question because I didn’t expect the test to have definitions. I think I’m actually liking this math class because I understand most of the stuff that is going on so far.

It was my dad’s birthday on Tuesday and I bought him a cheesecake to celebrate the occasion. It was delicious as always, especially since it was from Porto’s Bakery. I’m a bit iffy about how the pastry chef wrote the words unevenly on the cheesecake but it’s not a big deal. Before picking up the cake, I had lunch with a friend at a sushi place across the street. I ordered a salmon roll and salmon skin roll and it was decent. I didn’t expect the salmon skin roll to have cooked salmon because I thought it was supposed to be raw salmon literally wrapped in skin instead of seaweed. On the bright side, the salmon roll had a generous amount of salmon in it so I’m happy about that ☺.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 20 months on Friday ^_^. We ate at Joe’s Crab Shack for dinner. I ordered a plate of steak that came with rice, shrimp, and steamed veggies. The steak was delicious though the steak sauce tasted like lemons for some reason but there’s no harm done.

Being the car enthusiasts we are, we went to watch Need For Speed after the meal. I really liked the movie; the details and cars are amazing! The storyline kept me on the edge because you can’t really predict what will happen in every corner. Not to mention, I love American muscle cars so having the Shelby featured in the movie was a big bonus (the engine ♥♥). Speaking of which, the Shelby GT500 was Carroll Shelby’s last project (in the movie) so that added a lot of meaning to the car compared to a regular ol’ Mustang.. Which is why I like Need For Speed more than Fast & Furious. Another cool thing is that high-performance supercars were used in the movie such as GTA Spano, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, McLauren, and of course the Lamborghini. If you like cars and/or want to see something other than Japanese cars being featured, this movie is for you!

I should go out and buy myself a Boss 302 Mustang now, haha.

As usual your food photos look great! The steak looks good, and I’m not even into steak 😀

I’m glad this semester is so much easier on you in terms of scheduling-wise! I have to wake up at 3:30am to get to work, so 7:00am sounds much better than 5:30am! I’m really glad that your math class is going well for you; I’d be struggling really badly there!

I’m not into cars and all, so I’d never watch “Need for Speed”, but I’m glad you and your boyfriend enjoyed it! And eee! Congrats on your 20th month anni! ^^

Can’t believe I’m saying this too but so far, my 4th semester is making me quite interested even though i don’t have anymore photography class, i got audio visual which is related to film and film making LOL

I almost choked there when you mentioned calculus and how you enjoyed the math class LOL i touched calculus back then and it was so frustrating! as expected, the only math i can handle is…. algebra. that and maybe geometry and locus (i used to be good with locus but now i’m kinda lost with it? haha)

they tend to serve salmon skin roll that way though, with the seaweed… it happens here too lol but sometimes people find it hard to spot the seaweed because like…it’s pressed and fried altogether with the salmon skin so yeah…

Haha wow you actually like NFS more than F&F! Then again, the two are different; they flow differently, same for their stories. NFS is about “human drama mixed with car racing” while F&F is all “car racing and bits of human drama” although we both agree that F&F is starting to change. i think Vin Diesel also said how F&F is starting to be more…observant with their story so we don’t just get guys racing cars down the street thus the plotless scenario.

My father prefers F&F though but I can see why. I mean, for him (or guys in general? i don’t know), the more cars/car racing and the more upbeat the BGM becomes, the better and “cooler” the car racing movie is. in NFS, we didn’t get that upbeat songs and stuff right so yeah..understandable. then again, NFS has like super basic plot so… pretty much the same in my opinion.

And yea, I gotta agree with you, NFS list of cars are all foreign ones haha which is…different but still cool. i mean.. a lambo, come on! it’s such a badass car~ haha and a koenigsegg~ *o* we never saw a koenigsegg in F&F lol

I remember loving F&F’s nissan skyline so much haha (uh oh it’s the one paul walker drove T-T)

That is great that you can wake up a bit later. 5:30 would have been really difficult! I hope that you did do well on the test, even if you blanked on one question.

Happy (belated) Birthday to your dad. 😀

Mmmmm that food sounds so nice.

I am looking forward to seeing that movie. I watched Aaron Paul in Breaking Bad so I am interested to see him in that movie. 😀

It’s times like these that i’m greatful we have June-October and November-March semesters, while you’re on week 5 of the semester, i’m on week2 of a two month summer break (what should be two months actually, but I have summer classes poo) yes, I came here to gloat muahahar!

Anyway, happy birthday to your dad! I love cheesecakes! Its okay he wrote unevenly, it’s better than getting the name wrong xD anyway, congrazzles to you and your boyfriend! Sometimes I want a boyfriend just so someone can buy me food (lol, in my imagination, relationships are like that)

I’ve played need for speed since I first encountered a computer. Need for speed underground will always have a place in my heart. Too bad I missed the movie! Huhuhu anyway thanks for the mini review, I’ll probably catch it in bluray

    Kiss kiss,

I’m glad school has been going well! That’s nice to have a schedule that doesn’t have night classes. Waking up at 7am is still pretty early for me, but that’s so much better than 5:30am, haha.

Happy 20 months! The food looks tasty as usual. I think it’d be weird if I got a roll with cooked salmon too, since I always expect salmon sushi to be raw. As long as it tastes good though!

I forgot there was a Need for Speed movie, haha. I think it’s because I always associate it to the game. Nice to hear that it was good though!

Happy birthday to your dad and congrats you guys! ^_^ 20 months is something to be proud of! I know I recently celebrated my one year wedding anniversary. That was something too and surprising. Lol

Never been to Joe’s Crab Shack but I think I need to go, the food looks delicious!~ Yum~ Also, on my end, school is almost over here too which has me gleeful. I don’t have classes in the summer which is fantastic.

I’m glad to hear that you liked Need for Speed, I might have to see it. Unfortunately, I’m not a car enthusiast but, I always enjoy action and suspense and all sorts of cars doing awesome things. That’s probably why I love the Fast and the Furious movies.

    Glad you’ve been doing well ~ ^_^

I’m not much of a fan of cars but I am of movies, and I really liked Need for Speed too! I really enjoyed the storyline 🙂 I may have gotten a bit emotional when Pete died though : haha! And dear Benny is one funny fella ;D Hahaha!

Anyway I love those pretty food shots! Make me crave for sushi now. Especially salmon! <333

And it's nice to hear that you're liking your Math class 🙂
