Patience Wins
January 12, 2013

On my previous blog post, I mentioned that I made sushi for the first time last weekend. Due to the success, my mom had me make sushi again today. Instead of making temaki (the cone type), I made the regular California rolls this time. I’m proud to say- I did a pretty good job for making rolls the first time. It took me 2 hours to make the rolls filling up 1 1/2 plates and around 13 minutes to eat. A picture of one of the plates was posted on Instagram if you’re wondering.

Speaking of food, I usually don’t have the luxury of eating frozen yogurt often. Since there is a yogurt place called Yogurtland across the street from my school (for the month), I have been going there once a week for the past 2 weeks before class starts. I might as well take advantage of that convenience considering how once I go back to my regular school, I’m stuck with pizza, rice bowls, coffee, sandwiches, ice cream, and burgers. I do appreciate the choices that I have considering how the options are suitable for its taste and price… And it could always be worse.

Yesterday, I hung out with one of my old friends from band (who I refer to as my band kid from time to time). I realized that there are some stuff about me that changed within the past 3~4 years for the best… Then again, high school usually changes everyone whether it’s for the best or worse. Over the years, I became more patient with things and I don’t get mad as easily. I learned to forgive (whether I’m right or wrong) and “brush it off” the best way I can in most situations possible. There are times when doing this isn’t easy and it’s fine because I don’t expect everything to be perfect.

As of now, I completed 1 1/2 weeks of school and there are 3 more weeks to go. I’m doing pretty good in the class so far since I’m caught up with the work and such. There is a unit test coming up on Monday and hopefully, it will be an easy A (or B). I don’t mind the drive from and to school because it’s much better than relying on others. The only times I do mind the drive is when I’m tired or I have to take an unfamiliar route.

Ahhh they look delicious! Now I’m hungry haha.
I have not had frozen yoghurt in so long. I’m actually jealous of all your choices. At work, we had a little cafe next door but over Christmas they went bankrupt and closed down so now I have to either take food with me or go for a walk to get some somewhere else.

The sushi you made looks like it turned out really well! ;D I’m usually too lazy to make any myself.. i just opt for the ones at restaurants for convenience sake hahah.

I’m also trying to tone down my temper hahah. I think to a certain degree, we all have one. I couldn’t agree more, it’s definitely better to just brush it off than reacting immediately.

MMMMMMMMMM your sushi looks totally scrumptious! I’ve always wanted to make them myself but I tend to get lazy when I don’t already have the ingredients here to make them.

High school changes everyone, period. People who are in high school are still kids. And kids have a lot of learning and growing up to do. So it’s typical to change, it’s just some of them don’t change for the better.

That’s awesome that you made sushi! I love sushi, so I’d like to try that some time too. Your California rolls look really good!

Yum, I like froyo too. Though, it depends on the place. For a while, there were a lot of froyo places nearby, but they weren’t any good. A couple good ones finally opened up recently.

I think that’s great that you’re more patient and are more laid back in some situations 🙂 After a while, I learned to do the same and to pick which battles are worth fighting. If it’s trivial, it’s not really worth getting worked up over.

    Good luck on your test!

That’s so cool that you’ve cooked something so fancy! When it comes to food, I’m as simple as it gets with cooking. Maybe one day I’ll take a creative risk.

Would you believe that I have never had froyo? We have two right near the school where I work but I’ve never taken advantage!

Oh wow. I bet you’re getting good at making sushi~ I only make onigiri with nori covering it. Speaking of that, I feel like I want some now from reading that. Damn you, Nancy. DAMN YOU.
And about Yogurt? I hate you. I never get to eat it, the nearest one to my home is a 30-min drive. So lazy, I just don’t even want to bother~

You have got to teach me how to roll sushi rolls. Any trick? I tried and my rolls suck ahah. The rolls look amazing, though.

Aw, frozen yogurt is the best! I go out of my way to get some. It really takes me way too much effort to get frozen yogurt but it’s always worth it. ^__^ I love Yogurtland. I wish there was one near me right now. I just think it’s so annoying that they have one in Alaska but not in my area? -___- sigh!

I agree with you. High school really changes people. Most of the people I know, unfortunately, were changed for the worst. :'( But I’m like you, too. I got ore patient and forgiving. I think it’s having to deal with the people that changed for the worse that made me a little better. 😛

The sushi looks delicious! I’ve never had homemade sushi, like ever. Ah, frozen yogurt. I love the stuff to bits and pieces but since it’s so cold here, I haven’t eaten any.

Good luck on your unit test! Also, you can do this! 3 weeks will fly by before you know it 😀

Way to go! You must be a pretty good cook to have your mother want you to make them again! You know it is good when people ask for seconds. 😉

I enjoy choices as well when it comes to food. I hate being limited to just one or two choices as it makes picking out food less fun you know?

I am attempting to becoming more patient and not get mad so easily. I am working on it. I think I have grown in this area of my life…even though I am not perfect. I just got to stop being a people pleaser and I think things will be so much better for me. haha

Way to go with school! You can do it Nancy!

The sushi looks lovely! I cannot prepare food at all, my flatmate is having to teach me, it’s awful!

I’ve never had frozen yoghurt – what is it like? Is it like ice cream but creamier? Does it taste like plain yoghurt? There is a frozen yoghurt shop in my city centre, but I’ve never tried it. You may as well make the most of it while you can!

They sound like changes for the better, which is never a bad thing! Hope you had a good time with your friend!

I have never actually tried sushi but they look good! Great job!

I always wanted to try frozen yogurt. I’m a little standoffish about it because I don’t like regular yogurt but it always looks so good in pictures lol.

So pretty and yummy looking! You should teach me how to make California rolls!

You don’t have many healthy choices haha I suppose frozen yogurt is a lot better!

We learn to forgive and we grow up from high school. Realizing it is when you really grow up! 🙂

Good luck on your unit test! You’re gonna do so well in that class to add to your transcript. ~jealous~

People know cities like Buffalo and Syracuse but they are so far north and nowhere near me. I live in an area with no cities except NYC an hour away because we are that small. So sucks for me when trying to explain to an outsider! Maybe they don’t know much about Google either lol!

I would not let you get me a domain unless I send you the money. But right now I’m happy on WordPress.com! The new interface is so pretty.

Well it’s not THAT common, but it’s not unheard of for someone here to go settle in an Asian country for whatever reason! Most of them are there just for work and will come back eventually. My brother isn’t though, he moved there permanently, though my mom thinks he’s in the other category of people.

Ohh I learned something! Armenia is a middle eastern country, got it!

LMAO yes so true. Asians don’t like facial hair!

Ohhh that sucks, I’ll try to fix it, not counting on that though. Not everyone has problems leaving their URL so I guess it’s probably because of your email. =/ It’s okay, I know your URL anyway. But if you move, make sure you leave your URL in the comment! 😛

    Take care!
