The Pursuit of Perfection
October 28, 2016

It finally happened.

After n years of window shopping, I finally bought a brand new car last weekend! It’s kind of funny how I changed my mind so many times about the car I wanted (despite all of them being sporty cars). At the end, I chose a white Lexus RC200t. I actually thought I would’ve bought the Mercedes-Benz CLA250… That is until I saw a sweet deal that Lexus was having for their 2016 cars. Plus, my parents really wanted me to buy a Lexus so that’s another incentive. I love my new car.

The Lexus RC reminds me of my first car, the Lexus SC. It’s a really nice two-door coupe with four seats. I opted for the inline-4 2.0L turbo engine for the fuel efficiency and I don’t really need 455hp under the hood. 241hp is good enough. Even then, the car drives pretty well with sports mode on. I did look at the RC350 with the V6 engine at first, but the only stock that the dealer had were the fully-loaded models that went way over my 50k budget.

I was in need of a new car because my previous car (Acura RL) was starting to have problems where it broke down once at a parking lot back in August and shakes a lot when I hit more than 45 MPH. I really liked my RL because for what it is, it performed when it needed to. I’ll admit that I had a hard time parallel parking and even had to ask my boyfriend to parallel park for me once. Thank goodness my new car comes with a backup camera and blind spot assist! I am also appreciative of the seat ventilation (aka. butt cooling technology).

The other cars that I have heavily considered over the last couple of years included:

  • Chevrolet Camaro RS & SS (Coupe)
  • Ford Mustang V6 & GT (Coupe)
  • Lexus RC 200t & 350 (Coupe)
  • Hyundai Genesis Coupe
  • Mercedes-Benz C450 Coupe
  • Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe
  • Mercedes-Benz CLA250 (Coupe)
  • Audi A5 (Coupe)
  • Porsche Macan

This is a pretty extensive list and my taste would always change. Not going to lie, I made the decision to buy the Lexus RC three days before actually buying one and I have no regrets. For the price I paid, I got a lot out of the car without having to buy a bunch of add-on packages to beef it up. Though the $400 lip spoiler would’ve been nice. I’ve been driving my car around for a week already and love how it feels and runs. Maybe the one thing I don’t like about the car is its wideness. There were a couple of parking spaces where my car hits both sides of the lines and that’s a big no-no! Otherwise, everything else is perfect.

P.S. “The Pursuit of Perfection” = Lexus’ tagline.

I know nothing about cars, so if I ever need to buy one I know who to go to XD

That’s a sweet car! It’s always great to find a good deal on them. I’m glad you’re loving your new car. It looks very slick, and I had to laugh at the butt cooling technology part. It’s good this new car comes with a rear camera to help you parallel park! I could use that for when I park at all times since parking was not my best skills at all . . .

Congratulations on a brand new car! Look at you go with all your successes! ^_____^

Thanks, Tara :D! Yes, I can be a definite help with picking out a good car :). My mind was blown with the ventilated seats because I’m used to seat warmers. This is perfect on hot summer days!

How exciting! Congratulations on your new car! Backup camera is definitely a lifesaver for me. It’s so hard to go back when I have rental cars without it.

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:40 am

That was my same issue when I was driving the Jeep D:. I couldn’t see what’s going on behind the car but thankfully the town was not congested when I was driving it XD

That’s a beautiful car 🙂 I don’t really know much about cars but it sounds like a good deal and it looks really sweet too! Congrats on your brand new car!

Lol I suck at parking, so that rear camera is a lifesaver. XD

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:39 am

      Thanks Claudine :)!

*okay enough white gurl ghetto accent*

y’know what… my mom loves lexus too but sadly it’s expensive af so all we can get is a toilet seat from the brand…lexus. yes, not toto or kohler or american standard. it’s Lexus. see, that’s the only lexus my family can afford lmao

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:38 am

Thanks Elisa :D! I love how sleek the coupe looks. What’s with our moms loving Lexus? I kept on getting ultimatums from my mom because I wanted a Mercedes-Benz. MB is its own entity @__@. . .

Wow Congrats for your new car!
It’s very pretty, and looks good in white!
It looks quite expensive. Is it an automatic car or a manual one?

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:36 am

Thanks Bhairavee :). Aha, expensive can be pretty subjective depending on who you’re talking to. It’s cheap considering it’s not a Maserati, but expensive considering it’s more than a non-luxury vehicle :). It’s an automatic car with paddle shifters so there’s also a manual option.

Congrats! Your car is stunner, I hope to buy my own soon too.

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:34 am

      Thanks, Tienne 🙂

Congrats on the new car! It looks awesome! When I got my TL, I definitely wanted the back-up camera added on. It’s so useful! Sorry to hear about the issues on your RL though. I have been having issues with my TL throughout the years, so I’m considering a new car too. I do love my TL when it works, but I’ve had so many electrical issues with it!

I’m glad you’re so happy with your new car!

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:34 am

I think the issues with my RL is due to age rather than design of the car. Once a car starts reaching a certain point, everything starts breaking down @__@. I’m looking forward to see what your new car is! I don’t trust electrical components at all soooo I ended up buying additional warranty for my car *_*

  8. Cassidy ☆ November 1, 2016 at 3:48 pm

    Congratulations on your new car!

It looks so nice and fancy! ?

I have no plans on buying a car, even after I get out of college. I hope to try and keep Cameo around for as long as possible since I’m so attached to her.

But still…I find myself looking at cars and fantasizing about what will come after.

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:31 am

Thanks, Cassidy! You have a nice car that should last for quite a while :). Haha, I already decided on my next car at this point X’D. Let’s see if I’ll change my mind later :p

  9. Becca ☆ November 1, 2016 at 6:49 pm

Dang girl! Congrats on the new girl! It is very you 🙂

I know pretty much next to nothing about cars, so a lot of this post went over my head, haha, but I’m glad you are so pleased with it! I definitely like smaller cars as I feel they are easier to navigate and definitely easier to park with! Your car looks so snazzy!

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:25 am

Thanks, Becca :D. I’m glad I didn’t go anymore technical in this post LOL. This is one of the reasons why I didn’t bothered looking at SUV/crossovers. Not ready for it and not skilled enough to park it properly XD.

  10. Georgie ☆ November 2, 2016 at 3:55 am

Yay congratulations on your new car, Nancy! Well deserved. 🙂 I don’t judge you at all for making a decision only days beforehand. I know you made the right one. I thought about my car a lot before buying one, as I wanted the Suzuki Swift, but also a VW Beetle, but I kinda settled on the Mazda 3 not too long before purchasing it either.

Ahhh, the wideness of the car would scare me, I am not very good at parking myself and I got anxious over my parents’ Toyota because I did not want one that wide. I already have trouble with the big long nose of my Mazda 3, I have gotten used to it over time but yes, it does take time to get used to parking with your car if it’s bigger than you’re used to.

Does the car come in other colours? Why did you choose white? ?

    • Nancy ☆ November 2, 2016 at 4:23 pm

For some reason, I love white accessories (white wallet, phone, purse, etc etc etc) so my car had to be white XD. Red and blue cars look nice too but it didn’t scream my name as loud X’D. Wide cars is only a problem in congested parts of town where every inch matters.. . . Oh, same for long cars (how people are able to parallel park into tight spaces is beyond me). I don’t really see Suzuki cars in California. I think you made a good choice too (new gen Mazda’s are cute!!)

  11. Holly ☆ November 2, 2016 at 6:07 am

Nice choice! I think it’s great that you understand the technical side of things. I’m a complete novice when it comes to cars which is why I asked my dad to pick out my first car for me!

I would love a backup camera. I’m just happy mine has parking sensors. They’ve been a life saver so far.

I want a Mazda MX5 as my next car but the latest one doesn’t come in auto yet and my insurance is wayyy to expensive at the moment.

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:15 am

The new MX5 Miatas are cute! I rarely see the Miata being auto because it’s really geared towards the sporty side. Ahh, my insurance is pretty expensive too so I feel yah!

  12. Jessica ☆ November 3, 2016 at 1:51 am

Congratulations on the new car! It’s gorgeous!

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 9:18 am

      Thanks, Jessica 🙂

  13. Rezina ☆ November 3, 2016 at 11:27 am

Yay! I know you were looking for a car, so it’s great you got one you really wanted. To be honest, I don’t really know what the differences are between all the cars on your list but your lexus looks really nice!

Are you planning on naming it? haha if you are I’m curious to know what it is!

    • Nancy ☆ November 3, 2016 at 12:37 pm

I’m really bad at naming my things @___@. I call them as it is, so I’ll refer my car as the RC (the model name) :’).

  14. Pauline ☆ November 6, 2016 at 1:44 am

Your car is beautiful – Congrats! I love the inside it looks super sleek! I know how excited you’ve been so WOOOO!
