Clinique is my go-to brand when it comes to skincare products. Everyone’s skin type is different and I’ll admit that it’s a bit of a hassle (money wise) to find a solution that works. I’ve been using Clinique products for a bit over a year and I’m satisfied with the results so far. The food that you eat also affects your skin and I am pretty guilty of having some skin-damaging cravings. I think the price of the products reasonable considering how it’s effective and doesn’t burn my wallet.

For a while, I’ve been buying my Clinique products from Macy’s until I finally opened up the official Clinique website last month and saw some legit promotions going on. I’ll admit that I get pretty annoyed when the staff at Macy’s ask if I want to open a credit card account with them 2-3 times after I said no. Maybe it’s my sense of understanding that invites them to seize the opportunity and make that referral… I’m already familiar with their products so I’m comfortable with purchasing online.

During Thanksgiving (Black Friday) weekend, Clinique had a pretty neat promotion going on where you get some free travel-sized goodies along with 25% off your entire purchase. My mom and I went crazy and spent over $300 after discount and taxes. Last week, I ordered another $63 worth of goods for my mom (after $30 discount) and got 13 free travel-sized goodies. We’re a big sucker for “bonuses”.

Before I continue, this is NOT a sponsored/promoted post. I splurged on this out of my own free will (and hard earned money)~

Here is my Black Friday haul (excluding the products I ordered last week):

  • Acne Solution: Cleansing Foam / Clarifying Lotion / All-Over Clearing Treatment / Clinical Clearing Gel
  • Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion + (mostly mom’s)
  • Even Better: Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer (mom’s)
  • Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
  • Take the Day Off Makeup Remover / Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser Mousse / Mascara / Lipstick
  • Pink Tin: Clinique Happy Perfume
  • Superfine Liner for Brows
  • Makeup Bag
  • MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage / MAC Eyebrow Pencil (MAC and Clinique are owned by the same parent company)

My daytime routine: cleansing foam → clarifying lotion → all-over clearing treatment or clinical clearing gel → moisture surge extended thirst relief → dramatically different moisturizing lotion+

For nighttime, I replace the last 2 steps with a nighttime cream.

As always, I will continue working on improving my diet so it doesn’t damage my skin any further. Baby steps~

Skin is such a funny thing. I’ve always had problems with my skin, but I’ve found out it’s because I was using harsh products. Now I’ve switched to softer products, so to speak, my skin is gr8. Not the best, but it’ll do. I’m glad you found something that works for you, though – that is always important.

I saw your snapchat with all the products you got. yOU LEGIT. Also, I did not know MAC and Clinique were owned by the same parent company – you learn something new everyday.

Baby steps, indeed. Water is honestly the best thing you can give your skin. I drink so much of it during the day that I need to pee every 5 minutes, but it’s worth it.

Wow that’s a lot of Clinique products!

yaaaas gurl, that’s a victorious haul right there!

although i’m not as loyal to clinique the way you are, i do believe they are great. i think if budget isn’t a problem for me, i’d probably splurge on some clinique products too. their moisture surge extended thirst relief is still in my to-try list though as i’ve heard good things about it as night treatment, even for combination / oily skin. if i were you, i’d probably splurge on their makeup too, just because i’ve been eyeing their chubby stick eyeshadows and lower lash mascara 😛

you must be such a fan of MAC and clinique! xD
i don’t like going to MAC because seriously, their salesperson can be such a bitch. no, i’m not joking. once, i entered a MAC store and i asked them if they have the lipstick i was looking for and they’re like, “all the lipsticks can be seen over there”, pointed in a “whatever” manner and went to deal with other customers instead. other times, MAC employees only looked and stared at me instead of being friendly because unless the customer is someone fashionable or someone who wears branded shit from head to toe, they’d assume the customer isn’t gonna get anything and is probably only a desperate, sad poor person. i’m not joking. i once had a MAC employee scoffed and underestimated me because i look young and i don’t dress like an elite, high fashioned person. i mean, if you google horrible MAC experiences, you’ll probably know. there are TONS of stories about MAC employees being bitches which is really discouraging because i really want to get into their lip products! if you have never encountered any rude or annoying MAC staff then you’re lucky, gurl!

Wow, you got so much stuff! I love splurging on loads of things at once, it’s so good when you get to look at everything you’ve bought!

I really need to get into a better skincare routine. At the moment I occasionally use my cleanser, but I forget most of the time. My skin looks pretty rubbish at the moment!

I remember asking you about what you got in this haul haha! Your skin is amazing! But you’re totally right about “not everyone’s skin is the same” After you told me about which products you use, I decided to buy it as Clinique had an offer then too (in the retail store – Boots! Idk if you guys have it there 😛

But after using it for around a month now – I’ve not seen any differences and at once point my skin felt a little irritated! Ahhh – skin care products is such a pain. I’ve been looking for ages but nothing really works! Or maybe I’m not using it long enough xD

I don’t use MAC anymore because thats another thing that irritates my eyes and skin when I use it haha!

Oh, wow, what an amazing haul! I think it’s great that you were able to take advantage of the discount and bonuses, and I say if there’s an opportunity, then one should definitely seize it! Carpe diem, baby!

It’s good you were able to buy products you’re familiar with or know that they work for you. I’d only buy stuff I know online in that instance, too. If it’s a product I haven’t seen it in person, I am not too inclined to buy them.

Keep it up taking care of your skin with diet and a good skincare routine. I also seriously recommend that you buy good facial sunscreen because that’s one thing everyone should be applying at the least! 🙂

Thanks for sharing your goodies with us, Nancy! I am super impressed with the haul and your brand loyalty 😀

I’ve never used any of Clinique’s products before but I have heard nothing but great things about them. I’ll have to try some of their products at some point. If only I wasn’t a broke college student.

But I’m glad you were able to get a good deal on their products.

When I texted you over Black Friday, I was excited to see the promo for Clinique. I loved Clinique when I was still using it back then. I do miss it too since I am getting horrible acne breakouts lately. But it looks like you seem to have a food supply running here. I’ve heard that the lotion+ isn’t good for acne-prone skin because it produces more oil–or something like that. I was recommended the moisture surge? How do you like the acne solutions gel? I am intrigued to see if that works.

I have used some Clinique products. My skin doesn’t really react when I try new products so usually when I finish one bottle I try something else. I mostly use SK-II products because my mum works for them… 😆

Skincare can be expensive so I’m not surprised you spent $300 either, even after savings. Also +1000000 at travel sized goodies. I got a discount on some travel-sized goodies last time I bought from L’Occitane. 😜

I don’t know if I eat anything that kills my skin but I tend not to eat fried food. I do eat a lot of candy sometimes though. 😶 I need to share my skincare routine on my blog, too. I think mine is simple like yours – toner, facial treatment essence, eye cream, then moisturiser. I have one moisturiser for day and one for night. I used to use a cleanser in the shower but I don’t anymore… I probably should, haha. I just make sure I wash my face well. I tend to stick to water/gel-based moisturiser too, as the oil-based ones just give me pimples.

Ahhh skincare splurge! Love it! Although I need to be good and finish my products first…

Haha I totally fell into the lure and got a Macy’s credit card. I probably use it like once or twice a year…. -___-

That’s great that you’ve found a skincare routine that is working for you. Clinque was too strong/drying for me when I tried it in college unfortunately. There are just too many factors so I agree that there’s no one solution for all. I definitely see the differences when I stress eat or when I don’t drink water as much. And weather factor – I have to pile on the moisturizer for windy/cold months. x_X
