Recent Haul
July 6, 2016

I haven’t done a recent haul post for a while! Recently, I bought some cool goods from new clothes to a new bag. I’ve used the excuse that I graduated to spend some money, but I have no regrets (because it’s within reason)! The effect is starting to wear off, so it’s time to save up!

Coach Bag

For my self-graduation gift, I bought a cute bag from Coach during its semi-annual sale. Initially, I settled for the Floral Prairie Satchel but it ran out of stock. I waited a week until a new batch of bags went on sale and picked out the Stanton Carryall 26 bag. I’m happier with this new bag because it’s plain white and cute! I have a standard full-size wallet, so it pretty much takes up half of the bag. If I can find a white wristlet, that’d be great! The main compartment doesn’t have a zipper enclosure, so you have to be careful. There are 2 zippers on each side that lets you slip something flat or small. Otherwise, I really like the bag and the convenience it gives. It is meant to be a compact bag, so you have to keep your carry-on to a minimum! The iPad and notebook in the picture are used for decorative purposes.

Banana Republic

I’ll admit that I went overboard with the clothes I bought from Banana Republic a couple of weeks ago… I am in need of some business casual clothing for the office. I ended up ordering a skirt, few tops, few pants, blazer, and a dress (most are not pictured). The quality of Banana Republic is pretty good in terms of the material’s quality and the craftsmanship. As far as sizing goes, it can be pretty tricky for first timer’s thanks to vanity sizing. I’m used to wearing XS everywhere else but at Banana Republic, I’m a XXS-P / 00-P.

Exam Guide

Even though I’m done with my bachelor’s degree, I still have some studying to do. Eventually, I would like to acquire a CISSP (certified information systems security professional) certification and figured this is the best time to start. I’m planning for a short gap between my undergraduate and graduate education to gain some industry experience. In addition, this will be a great helping hand in giving me a stronger foundation in the information security field. Personally, theory doesn’t matter if there are no hands-on application involved.

Disney Goodies

Adding to my plush collection, I bought a Disney Baby Marie plush and my boyfriend bought me a Grizzly Bear plush from Disney California Adventures. My awesome boyfriend also bought me the Minnie ears headband. I pretty much wear it to every Disney trip these days!

My old 22″ HP monitor is almost 8 years old and I used it as an excuse for a monitor upgrade. I ordered a 25″ HP monitor and have no regrets. The design looks sleek and the display quality is pretty good! I’ve encountered many monitors over the years and found HP to be a personal favorite. Sticking to brands, I see…

I really like all the things that you got, sometimes you need too, hehe. 😀 The plush and disney items are so adorable. 😀

Ahhhh! The Coach bag is awesome! It’s simple, but elegant 😀 Great choice. White really suits you.

Those are some nice dresses 🙂 As always, you got a good sense of style and taste XD

Good luck with the CISSP! I think it’s a good idea to take that “down time” to expand your horizon and knowledge. I should have been more motivated like you, haha! 😀

The Disney goodies are adorable. And your spankin’ new monitor look bloody slick! I remember when I got my 24″, upgraded from a . . . 20″ (???), and the widescreen effed me up for a bit, but I still loved the larger resolution! Also, your computer workstation is so tidy! Cat stuff is adorable! ^_^

I wish my workstation at work is as organized as the one at home! XD.

I love that skirt! So cute! When you mentioned XS is brought back memories of when I was wearing size 0 and wearing smalls. LOL oh the good old days. LOL The purse is really nice too. It has been a long time since I have owned a designer bag – unless it is on sale at Ross or something – haha. orz *cheap cheap cheap*

I think, if I do end up hauling and rewarding myself for graduating, I’d haul video games and probably skincare / makeup products. it’s funny to see other people’s idea of a haul since it’s different from mine 😛

banana republic is hella expensive here! maybe it’s not as crazy in the US, even though it’s still a high end brand.
your disney plushieeees! I want the bear, not Marie because I prefer her mom or her orange dad :))

yay for bigger monitor! i have a 27″ monitor and i still want, like… a bigger one. i’m crazy HAHA

Love the clothes you bought. The skirt is so cute!

Those Disney plushies are adorable. I can’t believe how much you visit Disney, that must be so amazing. There are no theme parks on that sort of scale near where I live!

I think it’s good that you’re getting industry experience. It’s definitely what a lot of employers look for. The majority of jobs I applied for last year wanted me to have a few years experience, so I was really lucky to get the job I did without any. Good luck with it all!

Oh my god, my brother bought me a Marie plush from Disneyland Paris when I was younger and I took her everywhere with me. I’ve still go her but she could do with a wash!

Sounds like you needed a new monitor if it was 8 years old! I bought a larger monitor and I also have no regrets.

Love the Coach bag! I like that the design is sleek and simple 🙂 It’s nice that your wallet matches too!

I don’t shop at Banana for myself, but I do like the quality of the clothing there. I buy stuff for my brother and husband there. The skirt and dress you got look nice! I barely have business casual clothing now, haha. I got too used to how casual everyone dresses at my work place.

That’s great that you’re still studying on your own! The Disney plushes you got are so cute, and 25″ is a nice size for a monitor. You should save the old 22″ to use for dual monitors XD My husband and I have used several brands too, though I don’t think I have a favorite. I’m currently using two Dell monitors, while my husband is on Acer.

You got a lot of great stuff recently!

I wish my work would let me wear legit casual clothing XD. I’m beginning to see the mapping of type of industry with type of dress code.

I wanted to use my old 22″ for dual monitors, but my brother ended up claiming it. He has some low res 15″ annnd I’m not taking any of that XD. If I’m balling enough, I’d buy another 25″! XD.

I’m so jealous – your bag looks super nice! And I think it’s a great idea to gain some experience before delving back into school again. A lot of my cohorts did the same thing and now they already have a foot in the field they want to work in.

Also, I love your pink kitty cup!

NANCY I AM INLOVE WITH YOUR BAG. I HAVE NEVER FELT SUCH A STRONG CONNECTION WITH A BAG BEFORE *cries becos money* Hahaha, I have been looking for a similar style bag for a while now – I’m wanting to go for a higher end bag because I ALWAYS find that high street brands like RI, New Look (I’m not sure if you guys have that there) break within a week. D: But seriously, the bag is gorgeous!

I love my own Minnie ears headband, I bought mine from Paris and wear it around the house as I listen to my Disney playlist 😛

Having an 8 year old monitor is definitely a good reason to upgrade, I hope you’re liking it 😀

    You deserve all these goodies!!

The bag is absolutely gorgeous, but it seems so small. I feel like with Coach, it’ll either be too small or too big. I bought a gorgeous Coach bag at an outlet shop last year (my most expensive purchase to date) and I love it but it’s a big tote. I can’t fill it up! Although I don’t think I’d want to…

I hate clothes shopping. I’m okay with shopping and ordering tees online, but going into a clothing store like H&M or anything… I don’t dress up very often because I’m not very comfortable outside of tees and jeans, so I feel like I’m being judged by other customers and the employees. Then trying on clothes leaves me feeling worse, because either my tummy pudge gets in the way or the clothes were designed for tall people (which I’m not).

Normally I would advise against taking a break between undergraduate and graduate. As a former professor told me, if you take a year you’ll never go. It’s the reason I went straight into graduate studies following my undergraduate years. But it may be different for your field, so good luck on hitting up the industry with all your fabulousness!

Business casual, now we are talking! I bought a plain long-sleeved white shirt in Singapore because I wanted something kind of more office-like. We can wear whatever we want at work, but I like to dress up nicely. I just feel like I have a lot of really nice clothes but nothing in between ?

I hope you can find a white wristlet some time in the future! I have a huge versatile black handbag but I am thinking of buying a medium-sized smaller one. I like to have a small wallet and not carry too many cards or cash, but the idea of a wristlet is nice to carry just my phone and wallet. I don’t like holding the two in my hand. 😛 I used to use big wallets but now I am sick of them being so big. ?

Hehe, I think Banana Republic is half of my wardrobe since I signed up for their credit card and racked up a bunch of reward points, and then I have to spend those points on more BR/GAP/Old Navy. And yes, their sizes run larger than many other stores. For petits, Ann Taylor is also a great store for business clothes and petites since the fit is a bit slimmer. And I’ve been loving their designs more than BR lately. Price point and quality are about the same as BR, but I usually hit the outlets for both AT and BR.
