Summer Classes
July 29, 2013

Last Wednesday, my boyfriend and I attended that one-time sushi class I have been raving about for quite some time. My ultimate goal was to learn how to prepare raw fishes for sushi/sashimi; which was accomplished later on during the evening. The instructor showed everyone how to make Vegetarian rolls and Spicy California rolls and it was nothing new to us. One of the major differences that we have in making sushi is the type of rice we use. The instructor uses sweet/brown rice while we use “premium” rice. It really depends on your personal preference. The first batch of rice she made was a bit disastrous considering how the rice unevenly cooked and it was unacceptably sticky. Regardless of it all, I enjoyed the class the best way that I could.

Then on Thursday, I took the final for my Business Law class. This means I’m finished with the class! I’m finished with this summer session course! In all honesty, I will miss this class because the lectures and everything are interesting. I have no idea what my grade is for the class since it isn’t posted yet. Either way, I got a course requirement out of the way and I’m a step closer into transferring schools. I still need to go to school to take care of some things. Speaking of which, I was #9 on the waitlist for Microeconomics and switched the course to US History. Although I’m still in the waitlist, it’s better being #3 than #9. We’ll see what happens.

This Sunday, I’m going to cyber camp! I legitimately thought I wouldn’t go this year because of qualification, financial, or transportation issues. I am fortunate enough to have those taken care of without too much of a problem. This whole camp will give me plenty of experience with my major regarding cyber security and all of that fun stuff. Last year, the camp took place at a university ~30 miles away from my house while this year’s camp will take place at another university ~350 miles away from home. I bought my airplane tickets and I’m ready to go on Sunday morning! Am I excited for this trip? Yes!!!

    There are sushi-making classes? I need to try this! Would you mind sending me a link to what you did, since I don’t live too far from you?

    Congrats on finishing your class! I hope that your transfer goes well. I’m sure that Cyber Camp will help you transfer schools as well!

    I’m so jealous you went to a sushi class! I’ve been looking into them around my area but they don’t offer like a one-time thing… it’s about $400-600 for approx. 3 weeks of sushi making… I just want to learn how to make sashimi too 🙁

    A one-time sushi class sounds awesome! I’m glad you achieved your goal, even if part of the class wasn’t as useful. That’s kind of embarrassing for the instructor to make bad rice during a class she teaches though XD;;

    Ooh, that’s cool that you’re done with your class. That seemed fast! I hope you did well on your final, and good luck getting into the class you want!

    I also look forward to hearing about how cyber camp goes 🙂 Have fun!

    I was always curious about which school you attended. At first, I thought it was UCLA until you mentioned something about transferring schools? I may have missed somewhere, but congrats on being one step closer to finishing what you need to do.

    Enjoy your times at the cyber camp! I want to hear all about it. 🙂

    Sticky rice! ew. =( Know what’s weird, though, I’ve never actually TRIED sushi. >> Bahahaha. I mean, it’s not that I haven’t thought about it- I’ve just assumed I wouldn’t like it. For one thing, I don’t like rice. But for a second, I also don’t like fish. And so I definitely don’t think I’d like raw fish. xDDD

    Ohhh! I totally hope you’ll enjoy your trip! Sounds exciting!!

    Even though I don’t like sushi, the class sounds fun. I like to cook and I’ve no idea how to make sushi so it would be a new experience!

    Congrats on finishing your business law class! I haven’t taken mine yet, but it doesn’t sound very interesting. Hopefully I will be proven wrong, and hopefully you did well in the class!

    I hope that Cyber Camp goes really well. I know how excited you get for it every year it seems. I love getting participate in activities, very fun activities, that are geared towards your career. This summer I got to go back to the Idaho Science and Aerospace Scholars as a worker instead of a student and that was epic. So good luck with everything!
