Summertime Happiness
September 16, 2015

Summer is coming to an end within a week and school will kick in again. This was a pretty pleasant summer for what it is, especially since I spent most of it working with a little proper leisure time on the side. My boyfriend was gone for almost all of summer so there goes my chance of spending time with him! Honestly, 3 months is too much for me but I’m glad summer is over with because he’s finally back :). But in the meantime, I try to have fun with the friends in town~

“She’s the IT Girl”

I spent most of summer working full time hours. At this point, I am pretty proficient with programming processes/forms/etc. the ERP so I finished my projects faster. Since I am working under the finance and administration department, I got dragged into the fiscal year’s inventory valuation process once again. I learned the mistakes from last year and figured out ways to make the process easier on my end this year. Instead of manually retrieving information by going to each document, I have several reports within the ERP do it for me automatically. At the end, the inventory process went a lot smoother and faster this year! In addition to what I do, I was given the opportunity to look into learning how to program PLC’s. I’m still pretty far from actually being able to program the PLC’s but at least I have the variables translated. This is a side thing for me when I have free time, but I’m still doing IT as my main duty.

Summertime Happiness

Despite the fact that I was itching to go to Hawaii or Cancun at first, I had other summertime adventures that satisfied me. Here are some snippets of ~my life during summer~

I decided to ditch my want for a Camaro/Mercedes-Benz and bought a Tesla instead… Just kidding 😹! However, I did have an opportunity to drive it (85D trim) and it was amaaaaazing! 0-60MPH felt great and there are no gears so you only feel the forward motion. The car is a true sleeper1)When a car looks normal but actually performs.

One of the things I wanted to do this summer included learning how to watercolor because it’s one of my weak spots in art. I’m still trying to learn the mechanics behind watercoloring and it’s a fun past time activity. I’m using the Winsor & Newton watercolor markers for ease with brush as a helping hand. Other than that, food = happiness♥.

Summer Haul

This summer, I bought a lot of scrapbook accessories thanks to the constant sales at Michaels. I’m sure I’ll have a fun time putting these accessories to good use! The pens are from Amazon and the G2 pens are so nice to write with! The Miffy pens (left) are great to use because of the fine point. In addition, I bought watercolor pens to “paint” with. The concept is similar where you need water and a brush, but the application is a bit different.

If you know me, you’d know that I looooooove the scent of eucalyptus spearmint. Even my wallflower plug at school was eucalyptus spearmint scented. The eucalyptus basil was okay, but didn’t fancy me. Bath & Body Works had a 50% off aromatherapy products and I bought a bunch of different products to try out. My boyfriend’s sister introduced me to the scented body scrub with the birthday gift she gave me a couple of years ago and I fell in love with it ever since.

In addition to all of the stuff in the pictures, there are a handful of dresses that I bought and a couple that my boyfriend sent me. I’m on a roll with dresses!

Bits From the To-Do List

I had a lot of items on my to-do list and I decided to list a few worth mentioning about.

  • Watch Any 10 Movies: I almost did it, but there are 4 days left in summer at this point. If I get on my A game, I could meet this goal but we’ll see. I’m happy with the 8 movies I watched so far that I haven’t seen before. I watched Painted Skin II: The Resurrection2)On Netflix, I was looking for a Chinese movie. This movie is kind of dumb but the demon part was interesting., Mission Impossible 2, Kung Fu Hustle3)I only watched the first 15 minutes before and finally finished it this summer. Still a good movie because first impressions are not always right., Guardians of the Galaxy4)Finally watched the movie!! Groot at the end is adorable., The Aristocats 5)Everybodyyyyy wants to be a cat!, Batman Begins6)I don’t remember watching the full movie before., Ant-Man, and Jurassic World7)Mostly watched it after learning that the Mercedes-Benz GLE is featured in the movie. GLE is the newest model to be released, replacing the ML line..
  • Start 2 TV Series: Why does Arrow, Flash, and Gotham have to be on hiatus during the summer??? I ended up watching Daredevil and Orange is the New Black. I wasn’t too fond of OITNB because of the backstory behind the main character’s sentencing. However, everything else was pretty funny! On the other hand, Daredevil was worth watching.
  • Finish a Game: As a cool car enthusiast, I NEEDED to play The Crew. I bought a season pass at first thinking it’s a subscription to the game, but I found out it’s an add-on. At the end, I spent ~$80 on the game but it’s worth it to some extent. There are endless missions beyond the main storyline so you’re practically never finished with the game. My main car ended up being the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Edition for the second half of the game and the Camaro SS for the first half of the game. I have the Maserati GT and the Corvette Stingray that needs to be upgraded as well… I finished the main storyline so I’m just entertaining myself with mini quests, raids, and storyline repeats.
  • Update Food Blog’s Layout: During a useless workshop at school, I worked on changing the layout of my food blog.  I wanted to keep things simple without going all out. Before, there was a cool featured image hover effect except it wasn’t stable in responsive mode. Now, it’s a lot more responsive than before. Far from perfect but I’m happy with what I have now. I like to treat this site as my “R&D open lab” where I learn by doing8)Sound familiar?.

My goodness, your summer was absolutely eventful and it really looked like you got the best out of it! I’m trying to think in my head how far I got, but it wasn’t very far haha

And I think I oogled your summer haul much longer than I thought! I am currently obsessed with the tv show Person of Interest and I just missed a chunk of my episode!

Yaaaay, your boyfriend is back :))

That dress is hella cute! I’m glad you’re acing it at work – what would they do without you, eh?

That cocktail look delicious!! All of the food looks delicious, especially the Korean BBQ <3 I love the watercolour of the lion and bear – so good!

God, I love stationery shopping. I don't have a job that requires stationery, so it's pointless me buying so much but I wish I could T_T

OITNB is one of my favourite shows! But fair enough if you didn't like it. I'm glad you go into Daredevil, though! Love love love that show.

Sounds like you had an awesome summer! I hope you have amazing start to the school year 😀

Your summer was so busy, and so awesome! I wish I would have done more in my summer, but that’s all right, I’m enjoying school. <3 Glad you had a great summer!!

You’ve been very productive this summer! Sure, you had to work a lot, but you gained valuable experiences. Sure, you didn’t get to travel, but you still did a lot of fun things when you could! Sure, your boyfriend wasn’t there for three months, but he’s back now, so yay!

I have to say, you’ve definitely been busy, in a good way 😀 You also got a lot of good stashes, learned how to get better at watercolour, and had delicious food.

Love your summer recap! It’s definitely been a happy summer for you! I wish you luck with school now! 😀

I saw commercials for Painted Skin II back in China. Flippin’ weird. I really like the movie that’s based on the Monkey King/Journey to the West tales. It’s a ridiculous comedy but it’s got its funny parts.

Also how the hell did you get to drive a Tesla?! I love Teslas! UGH! DON’T EVEN TALK TO ME!

    ( 😉 )

Looks like you had a great summer !(besides the fact that your boyfriend was away) But i’m sure you guys will make up for the times you weren’t together. Goodluck with your studies!

Wish i was as productive as you during summer! haha

That’s great that the valuation process was smoother this year, and that you’re able to finish your projects faster 🙂 Good luck learning PLC!

Oohh yum, I want all of that food XD I’m trying to learn watercolors again too. I used to use them when I was young, but then I switched to oil paints. I currently have watercolor pencils that I also use brushes on. The fish watercolor looks great!

The zoo also looks fun, and I’m jealous you got to drive a Tesla. I want one so bad! My coworker has one, and I keep meaning to bug him for a ride.

It’s kind of funny how stores like Michaels and Jo-ann always have sales. It must mean that nothing is priced normally there, haha. I subscribe to their mailing list for coupons, and I get emailed almost every day. Love the flower accessories you got! Can’t wait to see what you do with them!

8 movies is a good amount! I haven’t watched that many lately. I did finish Daredevil a bit ago, and that was really good. I’m so glad that season 2 is already planned. Sounds like you had a productive and fun summer!

I am glad that you had a good summer. I hope when school starts again you will have a good time with it. 🙂 It’s a shame that you couldn’t spend the summer with your boyfriend, but at least he is back and you can have some time. 🙂

That’s great it was a lot smoother with work and the inventory this time. I am sure it was a lot less stress with having it setup that way and not having to enter everything manually, are.

The watercolours that you did look so pretty!

So many pretty things you brought. 😀 I have never been into scrapbooking, but I always admire how pretty they look. All the little crafty bits. 😀

They should have TV shows that air in the summer, well the ones you like! That would be so great.

i swear every time i look at your pictures, i can’t but wonder about the length of your hair. lol so amazingly long! if only i have the patience to grow my hair that long. i always end up chopping mine up to my neck x__x i’m too impatient lol

watercolor is fun, yes! but they’re really difficult to deal with. especially when you’ve put the wrong color and you can’t top the color with another one. for that, acrylic paint is a lot easier. i like acrylic for faster work; it dries fast and if you make a mistake of coloring something wrong, you can just top the color with another one!

ugh can’t wait for Arrow and The Flash!! especially the flash, tbh. the ending of season 1 was frustrating ugh i need moooreeee!!

lol why am i not surprise that you’re gonna play the crew :)) are you going to play the new NFS too then? xD

I love this post! 🙂 The photos are so bright and happy and I could tell what fun you had.

Looks like you had a summer well spent! I wish I’d done more things in mine. I’m always such a laze-around kind of person.

I too have recently gone to brush up my skills on watercolor. 🙂 Painting was never really one of my strengths back in my art class days.

Love the haul too! I spot a lot of art materials! Hehe… XD

I’m glad your boyfriend is back, spending time with him is going to be great and I bet you’re really excited! 😛 I was in the same boat, sort of. I was working full time over the summer and so didn’t get to see my boyfriend much despite the fact he lives in the same town. He was working too so we were both very busy over the last 3 months, but it’s university next week so I get to see him everyday – that’s going to be exciting and something to look forward to! 😀

Looks like you had so much stuff done over the summer, I admit I just worked all summer pretty boring but I dont regret it 🙂 I’ve watched over 100+ movies this summer, I watched them every evening after work 😛

  12. Georgie ☆ September 24, 2015 at 5:38 am

Useless workshops and classes are the best times to learn something or do something that you would otherwise do in your spare time. 😛 I’m glad you managed to get something productive done!

Sounds like you had a radical summer and lots of things happened! Sorry you didn’t get to spend it with your boyfriend. 🙁 I am glad he’s back now and hope you guys are doing a lot of catching up!

You sure got a lot of things on sale. 😀 I have been trying not to buy much as of late, even if things are on sale haha.
