Sunny Summer Days
September 13, 2014

Initially, I thought I would have countless days where I’m sitting around looking for things to do. It turns out that I got employed at the end of June as an IT Assistant; even though I’m doing most of the work. I felt overwhelmed at first because I had to be trained in everything within three days, then things got a bit better. I learned a lot from the job such as knowing how the telephone system in a network works, debugging hardware/software problems, how the inventory system operates, how to configure the company’s software management system, and so on. Not to mention, the people at work are nice and welcoming! I’m thankful for the valuable hands-on experience this company granted me.

Work took up most of my summer break so I didn’t have time to do other things. At the most, I had the first few weeks and that one week off.  My boyfriend had work too so we were both busy to spend a lot of time together. At the most, we had a small meal once a week or so. Thankfully there’s work to make time go by faster.

Aside from that, I got to play a couple of games. I bought Need for Speed: Most Wanted when it was on sale and ended up finishing the game within a weekend… It wasn’t too bad because I got to drive a Camaro, Mustang, Viper, Corvette, and a few European supercars. I also played Warframe except it’s one of those games where you have to pay for upgrades if you really want to “win” in the game quickly. I haven’t bothered paying for upgrades yet so my character has weak gear. At least that prolongs the gameplay and you play as a space ninja!! Somewhere along the way, I got a beta key for a preview of The Crew but I missed it because of work :(.

Summer Bucket List

Earlier when summer started, I made a bucket list post of things I wanted to do. Overall, I’m satisfied with how things went even though I didn’t have a chance to accomplish some items. It’s okay, the trade-offs are worth it ☺.

Computer Betterment: I didn’t really have time to completely review Java because I didn’t expect to be hired shortly after making the list. On the other hand, I technically did improve other computer skills by being an IT Technician for the company.
✔ Sprinkles Cupcakes: I went to Sprinkles Cupcakes on opening day at the Americana after work. The traffic and long line were totally worth it just to ‘have the experience’.
Site Revamp: Ribboned and this site had a little makeover. A couple of new features was implemented (related posts + multiple posts per page) along with the comment section being fixed.
✔ Scrap to Gold: I’m glad to say, I finished 95% of the scrapbook! Summer isn’t technically over yet so I have a couple of weekends to add finishing decorations to it. After that, I’m on my way in filling it up with actual pictures as time goes by. You can see a picture of a few scrapbook pages on the last image of the slider below.
✎ Food = Happiness: I had a list of foods I wanted to eat during the summer, but some happened while others didn’t. Achieved: sashimi salad, chirashi, oysters, kabob, shawarma, and coctel de camarones y pulpo. Not Achieved: juice in mason jar (unavailability/lack of time), miniature food (lack of time), and ahi poke (I forgot that I wasn’t going to Hawaii for legit poke anyways).
✖ Possible Adventures: The time wasn’t there after the end of June :(.

Sounds like you had a super busy, yet productive summer. I think starting a new job is always overwhelming at first, since you’re trying to absorb so much new information, but eventually you will adapt and get the hang of it, and you did all that to the point where they offered you something more permanent! ^^

As for your bucket list — you may have not completed all of it, but like you said, the trade-off was good. You had many good foodie adventures, you learned a lot of new skills on your job, and you completed the majority of your scrapbook. So kudos to you, girl! Life is all about you make it, and you’re definitely making it ^^

Hm…a seasonal bucketlist sounds like such an awesome idea! 🙂 I think I might do one for this fall – there are a couple things that I’d love to do…try a Pumpkin Spice latte from Starbucks is definitely on the list. All of the food looks so delish – I’m definitely hungry now, but sleep is my first priority. 🙂

I worked all of summer last year so I know the feeling. However, it sounds like you did get up to quite a bit this summer while working. Especially lots of food adventures.

I think it’s really cute that you and your boyfriend met up for meals together now and then throughout the summer despite you both working. 🙂 You must have your time management skills down to a T!

Lots of great-looking food! I hope you and boyfriend can spend more time together very soon. 🙁

I’m glad things got better after the first few days of work 😀 You learned a lot, and it sounds like it’s been a great experience! That’s too bad you couldn’t spend too much time with your boyfriend though. I hope you’ll be able to find more time later!

I was actually looking into Warframe recently. A couple friends and I have been looking for a new multiplayer game we could play together, and the gameplay of Warframe reminds me of the multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 (which I really liked). I still haven’t tried Warframe yet though.

I think you accomplished a lot on your bucket list! There’s always time to do some of the things you missed later on 🙂 I also remember a lot of those food photos! They still look super yummy 😀

At least you managed to complete most of the things on your bucket list! Sounds like your summer was busy, yet fun 😀

All of the food pictures. Lord, oh Lord. Also, I really like your scrapbook pages! So cute 🙂

Jobs are stressful! At least it’s all over (the job training that is) now though. Phew!

Don’t you just hate those games that want you to pay way more money to get like …diamonds or gems or whatever so that you can enjoy it more?! Sheesh, like if it’s not free, don’t say it’s free & if it costs money, stop trying to make us spend more money than actually necessary. WoW was smart in that they made you pay a monthly fee, but all these other games with the option of spending money to buy things to advance in a game are so … GRR. JUST LET ME WATCH 20 ADS OR SOMETHING.

Looks like you got a lot of things done on your bucketlist! I can’t believe summer is over haha & I already started school.

The slider works well! Does it not allow you to have a caption or something? I think that’d be a lot easier to view the pictures & see what it is you’re looking at/why it’s relevant! First chirashi bowl! Nice. Love those things, but a lot of restaurants tend to mess it up, which indicates you probably shouldn’t go there again haha. Quite an eventful summer for you!

Ooh, do you use a plugin for related posts? I’ve been trying to implement it on my blog too, but I can’t find a plugin that I like.

    And I love the slider!

wow you’re such a tech dude now~ you can fix telephone now, eh~ amazing *o* can you fix hardware such as printers too? that’d be super rad 😀 I can never deal with hardware haha software is a lot better to deal with…

yay for slipping games during busy times! haha I always try to leave time for some gaming just because it’s part of who I am 😛 I once played NFS, the one for PSP but I didn’t continue it after first or second time playing it.. I guess racing game is better on arcade for me; aside from that, I don’t like it haha

ugh the list of food you wanna eat … I envy you so much. I haven’t had sushi in like… a month now? geez, I’m gonna die. I had salmon sashimi but not sushi ugh I feel incomplete… also, I’m not sure when I can have shawarma in my life… pssh, they don’t even have proper delicious burrito here :s I wanna live in where you areee 🙁

someone should turn you into a mermaid soon just because you have sushi like SO SO SO OFTEN djekhlwk; I hate you :((
you’re gonna have tail instead of feet the next time you wake up! :((

Sounds like you did manage to get so much done, so in the end, you accomplished a lot! That’s good!

Hey, I don’t know if I mentioned this? My husband plays Warframe and he has even gotten me to play, blah. Lol I’m pretty weak, myself as I haven’t played much in a long time, but I do have an account.

Still, congrats on your anniversary! That’s awesome! I hope you and your bf continue being happy and in love! I wish you guys all the happiness in the world and the ways to overcome any problems or obstacles in your way!

Seriously, the food looks so delicious! I want some~ Your slider works perfectly! Yay!

I really like that slider! Is that a script you made or is it a plugin?
I played Need for speed once but I thought it moved too fast, I couldn’t do anything really. But I used to play another car game that I liked a lot, I don’t remember the name of it.

Love the slider. Sometimes it’s nice to have that instead of a million pics, lol.

Sounds like you have a very eventful summer although you didn’t get to do everything you did do some so that’s awesome! I’m sure the job makes up for it in ways. ;D

Very productive summer. Good job! I’m sure once you hit full-fledged adulthood, your adventure time would be more limited due to commitments. On the other hand, your career goal would land you a good job where you’ll make enough $$$, thereby allowing you to schedule some time off and travel around a bit. Of course, there’s always the winter break. Where did you want to go? Did you want to go on a road trip, a cruise, or some international travel?

I am curious to see more of the scrapbook! I saw a couple of shots you posted on Snapchat. 😀

Even though you didn’t get everything done I think you made some serious progress on some rather large tasks. Given that you had work, that is quite an achievement! I also think you can walk away from this all proud that you have learned a lot at work, not to mention you now have more money in your bank account. 😉

Also I noticed the slider as I was catching up on your posts… I feel like I need to do this with some of my posts instead of posting giant blobs of photos! (!!!!)
