This Week’s Roundup I
February 8, 2016

I can’t believe how fast time flies. About 4 years ago, I finished high school and started college. To put things into perspective, I was in 6th grade exactly 10 years ago. Life isn’t always easy, but we have to make do with the things we have. When there are moments when life is actually easy, I try to enjoy it the best way I can! This moment of reflection made me think of how much that has happened over the years and appreciate its events. I’m thankful for the opportunities and awesome people who have come along the way~

Last week was a busy week for me. We’re on week 6 right now, which means we’re half way done with the quarter! I’m thinking about participating in the IT Competition again this year but in a different category. As much as I enjoy forensics, I think the strategic category is calling my name this time around.

Rounding Up the Week
  • Started on the one month redesign process for my club’s website (collaboration project).
  • Bought a GoPro for funsies. I’m still trying to get the hang of using the video and time lapse feature.
  • Wednesday consisted of: going to work, going to class, doing my agriculture + marketing homework, TA’ing for a class (let’s learn about Excel and BI dashboards), and studying for an exam.
  • Graded ~150 essays about the internet of things and Porter’s model.
  • FriDate ft. Poke Bowl and Downtown Disney’s Uva Bar.
  • Lunar New Year Eve meal with family on Sunday.
  • Super Bowl Sunday with boyfriend and his brothers.
  • Registered for spring quarter classes: CIS senior project, CBA senior project, and web application security.

Have a great week!

It’s good that you can recognise when things become easy and tough for you to appreciate the downtime you get in between the more challenging period! I try to do the same and appreciate and understand when life throw curveballs at me. There are times when I don’t accept things easily, but I just try and learn from my mistakes.

I wish you luck in the IT competition! Do the category that calls to you! No point in doing something you’re not 100% happy with 🙂

You’ve certainly have done a lot this week! 150 essays are a lot! I give you kudos for grading all that. XD And yay for Lunar New Year and Super Bowl falling on practically the same day this year. I didn’t know your family celebrated LNY, by the way! 😀

Sounds like you had a busy but good week.

I’m terrified by how time flies. I can’ get my head around the fact I’m the age I thought was old just a few years ago. I still remember school and college like it was yesterday but it was a decade ago.

It can be really great to have that moment of reflection and see where you have travelled. When you compare yourself to ten years ago, it is such a strange feeling, because in some ways it feels so close, but there are many events in between.

    Wow. 150 essays. x_x

Ohhh that GoPro looks like fun. I’m such a camera addict. It’s always so tempting for me to keep buying things like that. You will have to share the videos it makes sometime. 🙂

OMG tell me about it! The time just flies! It’s been 10 years since I have even been in high school. Ug, I feel ssooo old. LOL

  5. Cassie ☆ February 10, 2016 at 12:32 pm

I’m not even going to think about how long it’s been since I left school etc etc.. nope, not worth it. Mind, I still say the best thing I ever did was turn 30 – I feel like I finally started getting everything sorted.

Well done for getting all those essays graded!

  6. Regan ☆ February 10, 2016 at 3:19 pm

I hope the exam/s you were studying for went ok (or goes ok, if you haven’t already sat it!)

  7. Cat ☆ February 10, 2016 at 9:59 pm

You’re making me feel old, Nancy! 😉 10 years ago, I was in college, haha. Time really does fly. Sometimes I feel like I didn’t graduate that long ago, but it really has been several years!

Oohh, GoPros look so fun to play with. I don’t have one, but I’ve been tempted to get one multiple times now. And wow, 150 essays is a lot to grade! Sounds like you had a fun weekend with the FriDate, Lunar New Year, and Super Bowl 🙂

I hope you’ve had a great week too!

Wow, a GoPro! That is so cool! Tell us about it and show us some snaps on your next post if you can 🙂

Good luck on the IT competition! It’s good that you’re considering joining a different category. We all need to explore and expand our knowledge in the process! 🙂 I can tell that it’s going to be a great experience for you so I wish you all the best!

Oooh can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing with a GoPro! 😀

We streamed the Superbowl on Sunday but I stopped paying attention after the halftime show. XD I wasn’t that interested coz the Seahawks weren’t playing hahaha!

  10. Chynna ☆ February 11, 2016 at 12:31 pm

I don’t like putting things into perspective because then it reminds me that I’m getting hella old! I agree that life isn’t easy, but then it wouldn’t be as fun if it were easy sailing. Bumps in the road make for an exciting journey 🙂

Uhmmmmm, tell me all about this GoPro! I really one on, but I don’t know about spending all that money because it’s quite pricey. They’re so cool, though!

What a busy, busy week for you! But at least you got to send time with family and the bae 🙂 Hope you have a weekend! x

It’s hard to believe we are four years out of high school! It’s been fun seeing you grow throughout your college experience Nancy and comparing it to mine!

Oooh, you’ll have to tell us how you like your GoPro! They look like a ton of fun! Have you used it a lot yet?

Sheesh – 150 essays is a lot! I can see why your week was so busy! Are you referring to Porter’s 5 forces? I’m so sick of that model because we go over it and use it in almost every single one of my classes! 😛

    • Nancy ☆ February 15, 2016 at 10:18 am

Yeah! It’s amazing to see how you’re doing in college and even moreso that we’re in the college of business! I don’t do ~extreme sports~ so there goes half of the fun in the GoPro XD. I’ll need to take it out more to really know if it’s beneficial to me @___@. Only issue I have is stabilization- which doesn’t come standard in GoPro Hero 4 Session… But it does in Polaroid Cube Plus! Porter’s 5 forces is pretty repetitive but it makes sense when you’re analyzing a product/service ;~;.

Congratulations on getting those essays done. I bet you felt amazing once that was off of your back! How was Superbowl?

  13. Michelle ☆ February 13, 2016 at 12:19 am

Wow, you graded that many papers? I’m impressed!I hope the majority of people got good grades! It seems like another busy week for you but it’s good. Being productive helps me a lot, too.

    • Nancy ☆ February 15, 2016 at 10:19 am

As long as the student tries and writes a good amount (while making sense), it’s an automatic 100% for them :). At least I don’t give anything lesser than a C for these types of essays.

  14. Amy ☆ February 13, 2016 at 1:18 am

Time has definitely passed quickly. I don’t feel like it was long since I was at college with all my best friends but that was 6 years ago. And it’s so strange to think I started high school over ten years ago!

You graded 150 essays?! Wow, that must have been hard work. It sounds like you been managing to make time for a lot of fun stuff as well, so that’s good. I wish I was as organised as you!

  15. Brandy ☆ February 13, 2016 at 5:03 pm

I’m assuming you’re a teacher/instructor? I had a phase where I wanted to become a teacher, but that stopped once I realized that I lacked patience. I wouldn’t be able to sit still enough to grade papers. I think I’d end up becoming like Cameron Diaz in “Bad Teacher”.

I thought about getting a Go Pro to use for the same purpose – time lapses, but I know I’d rarely use it. I guess I don’t see a point when my iPhone does everything I need it to.

  16. Pauline ☆ February 14, 2016 at 12:34 am

Time does fly past – I just started my semester again and started reflecting on how many days have past since I started university; it’s insane!

My boyfriend bought a Go pro last month just because he got really stressed out and bought it from stress but now he makes awesome videos with it! Have fun with it, it looks so cool when he has it on his head like a helmet – like some guy from the future or something. He does get weird looks hahaha!

I have no idea what the SUPERBOWL actually is – my boyfriend tried to explain it and the purpose (he’s an amaerican footballer at uni) but it’s like ?????? IDK HAHAH but I hope you had fun. Most Brits just think, “oh beyonne performed yay” Lol

  17. Georgie ☆ February 17, 2016 at 3:07 am

I hope you have been enjoying your GoPro! I thought they would not serve me much entertainment but I see why people use them when they go swimming and such. The quality is really awesome. Nick has one, he took a few photos when we went jet skiing and we got an awesome shot… I am sure you will find many uses for it 😀
