Winter Haul Part II
March 30, 2014

Concluding the winter season, this is part 2 of the original ‘Winter Haul‘ post. Here are some of the major highlights of my purchases in the past couple of months:

I decided to set aside a budget for some dresses because it would be nice to have a dress to wear for special occasions or even casual wear. I’m a bit more picky when it comes to picking out dresses compared to other clothes. For example, the edges/sides of the dress must be sewn in because I wouldn’t like to have the threads along the sides tear apart. Even though that’s kind of standard, there are a few stores such as Papaya that sells dresses where the sides are left as it is after it’s cut. I always had trouble finding a dress that fits my taste but after some scavenging, I found Windsor Store and it sells the cutest dresses for casual and special occasions (since it’s a prom specialty store). Unfortunately, one of the stores closed at my neighborhood’s mall so I ended up going to a few stores 15~35 miles away. But at the end, it was worth it since a huge sale has been going on recently.

All of the dresses that I bought was on sale. I always look really closely at the stitching and fabric to find any possible damages and they’re all in perfect condition as far as I could tell. I spent from $8 to $18 for each dress and saved as much as $80 on the black dress. The orange dress is the first high-low that doesn’t drag to the floor since I’m short so yay! Good picks and purchases? Yes! ☺

There was a big sale at Gilly Hicks recently but I suppose the body mists/splashes are the highlights since the other things I bought included undergarments and more tank tops. Either way, the savings adds up so it’s still a win for me. The splashes have ~cute names~ if you haven’t noticed. “hey buoys” and “beach please” XD. Body splashes are fine to use but remember the emerald rule: don’t overdo it. Take care of your basic hygiene first then doing a spray after will do you good.

Lastly, I bought a new planner because I really wanted a cute, minimal, and content-flexible one since my old one isn’t any of those. I’m 3 months late into the year but thankfully, I didn’t lose out on much since the “individual dates” are flexible to the point where I can manually write down the days and not have empty spaces since I don’t have plans every day (as you can see from the 3rd picture). Even though there are grid boxes, diagonal lines, or other background patterns, it is not emphasized so I could really write any way I want. There are pages for the months so you can have an overview about what’s going on. There is also a page that fits all of the days in a year so if you have something small to write such as a birthday or holiday, you can write that down. If this planner is cute enough for you, bookmark Ardium and order a planner for 2015 since this planner goes up to the end of 2014.

And that concludes my Winter Haul posts. I think the next big one will take place at the end of summer since most of this shopping is going towards the fall.

Nice dresses! When you wear them, take pictures! I’d like to see they look on you ^^ I really like that black one. I’m not a fan of strapless dresses, but that one looks so cute!

I love body mists/body sprays, and while I buy some, I end up barely ever using them O_o; Though I should since I have them . . .

The planner is cute. Sometimes minimalistic styles are the best. That whole “simple but effective” phrase come to my mind.

I want to go shopping, now. Despite having told you on Twitter I hate shopping. I’ll probably just stay in my room and stare at my screen instead of having to deal with people. Ugh, people.

    The dresses look cute, btw!

I miss having a planner to fill in with school stuff. My schedule is just so hectic, that I would never be able to keep up with writing everything in a planner. I just use my phone and rely on people to remind me, haha.

Speaking of body mists, I need to get some new ones. I have rinsed out the one I have from Body Shop.

Nice, sounds like you saved a lot of money! All of the dresses look cute 😀 I especially like the all black one with the ruffly bottom. I also like lace designs like the one with the white top.

haha, I agree on not overdoing the body splashes. Sometimes people put way too much on!

Ooh, I like how simple the planner is. I really think planners like that are more useful when there’s less in the way, and it’s easy to read.

    Nice haul!

Sewn in edges? That’s pretty wise, actually. I never thought too much about it. I only went for the ones that were comfortable, fitted well with my personal style and shape, and saved me enough money. Anyways, those are some great deals!

Beach please, who needs planners when you got smartphones remember all the tasks for you? xD Haha, JK. In all seriousness, I like the physical touch of a planner, and it feels more personal when I keep up-to-date with a concrete item. Then at the end of the cycle, when you go back, you’d feel more accomplished because everything is physically recorded there! It trumps all virtual records, methinks. 😛

Oooh I love sales! 🙂 I can’t wait for the annual Great Singapore Sale to start this June, even more this time because I will actually have some moolah to spend since I’ve been working my bum off 😉 Hahaha!

Anyway the colours of those dresses are really gorgeous! Would be nice to see how you style and wear them! 🙂 I’m more of a skirt kinda girl, not as much a fan of dresses, but whenever I find cute ones I totally cannot resist buying them. 😛

And I’m in love with cute stationery too! I’ve purchased planners last year and this year just because I thought they were cute. I only used the one I got last year for the first few months of the year though. Haha! I really like how the colourful pens you use to write on your planner add to the cuteness of it! 🙂

I love Windsor dresses! I’m not surprised you found great ones there, heh. I feel like Papaya is one of those overseas brands that aren’t well made… something you’d get off YesStyle, y’know? The dresses you chose look great to me so far! I’d love to see what they look like overall (: The 2 red ones look particularly nice.

Definitely going to bookmark Ardium ^-^ I love buying planners (a little too much, lol) so I might be getting a couple from there now. Glad their dating system is convenient for you! 🙂

I love your taste in the dresses! It’s totally the styles that I would wear. The colors will be perfect for the summer.

I love seeing your purchases. Its satisfying to me since I cannot make many purchases anymore. With the mists spray, which one is your favorite?
Loving the new planner! I just found I ended up using my phone. With a new baby I simply don’t have the capacity to hold a pen at the same time.

I LOVE the dresses! I would love to see what you look like in them (it’s kind of hard to tell what they look like when they’re laying flat, you know?). Strapless dresses are pretty difficult for me to pull off unfortunately because I don’t have a lot of cleavage…to keep them up. They have to be pretty tight for me to be able to wear them for long periods of time.

Those dresses look so nice, and it’s wonderful that you could get them at a good price and still be good quality! 😀

Those are cool names for the sprays, I love when some companies do things a bit differently and fun.

That planner looks so nice. 😀 They can be really handy.

Wow Windsor! I don’t think I’ve stepped into a Windsor since I was in high school shopping for prom dresses. Looks like their styles haven’t changed much since then either haha how interesting. Have you ever stopped by H&M or Forever 21 or some of those boutiques or even Macy’s for some cheap dresses on sale? There are just so many stores that I’m sure are near you that sell really nice dresses that would complement your figure. H&M & Forever 21 offer their clothes for purchases online so you wouldn’t have to drive so far to go get them. I mean, shoot, even Target offers online purchases & their clothes are not only cheap, but pretty nice too. You would’ve never guessed some of the things they have on there are from Target.

Body splash! Haha, can’t say I’ve purchased body splash since….high school either! I tend to use body splash to spray my clothes when they smell like closet. Woman, you’re in college. It’s time to upgrade to perfume that lasts all day! Bath & Body Works always has sales for body splash though for future reference. The Body Shop is a great place for some beauty products too, but it’s a bit on the expensive side as is Origins, also one of my favorites. But their products are fantastic & worth it to me. Those large bottles you purchased will probably last you a realllllly long time. I still have body splash from Victoria’s Secret from…..high school ahahha.

Planners are lovely! Should always stock up on school supplies to keep organized. The turquoise color is one of my favorites.
